This review is for Kojonup Bakery, Kojonup WA

We stopped in here to get a few things for afternoon tea, including a jam donut, iced bun, custard tart and a couple of coffees. The food was all fairly good, although quite standard. The coffees however were luke warm and quite weak, so i ended up throwing mine out. If I had have only purchased the food, I would have given kojonup bakery four stars.

This review is for Rustler Steak House, Albany WA

We went to Rustlers as a big family group for my sister in law's birthday. The food was all fairly good, although a couple of people were not happy with the way their steak was cooked. To be fair to Rustlers, they did offer to redo those meals, but when you are in a large group it is a bit awkward to reorder your meal and eat it once everyone is finished. The meals were quite expensive for what they were, particularly the children's meals. We went there on a public holiday and were charged a 15% surchage which made them even more expensive. I realise this is often the case in restaurants, but it was not written or signposted anywhere, and our wait staff did not notify us of this fact. The first we heard of it was when we went to pay the bill so we got a bit of a surprise! the food was good overall though, and the decor is nice, very family friendly, but I probably wouldn't go there again due to the high cost.

This review is for Grill'd, Subiaco WA

verified email - 02 Jul 2013

We stopped into Grilld for dinner after watching a movie that ended at 9.00pm. We were disappointed to find there was nothing open in Subiaco at such an early time on a Sunday, but were very relieved to find Grilld. We ordered a hamburger and a chicken burger with some chips, and they were both fresh and delicious. The order came in a reasonable time, and the staff were generally quite friendly. I would definitely go there again.

This review is for McKails General Store, Albany WA

McKails General Store stocks a fairly good range of groceries for when you run out. The best part about this store though is the cafe. They offer a good range of home made pies, burgers, sandwiches and hot drinks, including coffees which are actually fairly good for a general store. I have eaten here on several occasions, and the food is always quite good, especially the pies and pastries. Definitely recommended for a quick stop before heading to perth, as it is the last stop on the way out of town.

This review is for Artisan Gelato, Albany WA

Artisan Gelato has a great range of delicious looking ice cream options at really good prices. I had an apricot yoghurt ice cream in a waffle cone and it was amazing! My husband tried a berry swirl one and loved it as well. There is some seating inside the cafe, and a little bit outside as well if you need somewhere to sit, but we just walked around with ours. The staff were very friendly and offered tastes for different ice creams while we were trying to decide. Highly recommended!

This review is for Kates Place, Albany WA

I often stop in at Kate's place for coffee, and it is always very good. I decided to try it out for lunch the other day, and although the crumbed chicken panini was tasty, it was quite a small serve for $10, and it was a little light on chicken for my liking. One quarter of the panini had no chicken at all. They have a great range of cakes, and some specials on offer as well. It is a really nice, welcoming type place to sit for a coffee though, with retro style decor. The other thing I like is that they offer a coffee texting service for uni students, text through your coffee order and they will have it ready for you in 5 minutes! After my lunch, I also realised that they have a student special of a panini and coffee for $11, which would have been much better value. They also have a loyalty card, half price coffee for your fifth coffee, and free for your 10th, which is good.

Initially we tried to go here for takeaway, but they were so busy that they were unable to fill any takeaway orders, which I thought must be a good sign! We tried again another night and had more luck. We ordered the green chicken curry, satay beef and veges, fried rice, rice and prawn crackers. The serves were generous, delicious and reasonably priced so we were very happy. The decor looks really great, it looks like a nice place to go and have a sit down meal as well. I will definitely be back.

This review is for Rats Bar, Albany WA

We went to Rats Bat to check it out, as we had heard lots about it. When we got there we were looking for a glass of wine and sweets, but unfortunately they didn't really have any sweet offerings. We were shown a menu though, and given a lovely spot to sit out the front under the bougainvillia. The lady who served us was very friendly and helpful, and we ended up ordering a four bowl platter with smoked salmon, spiced roasted almonds, mixed olives and grilled chorizo, and they were all delicious. Our food was brought out by another very friendly and helpful guy. There were quite a few wines by the glass which was great, and we sat there for some time feeling very unrushed eating our tapas. It was a lovely experience, and I will definitely go back again. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for in my opinion :-)

This review is for Three Anchors, Albany WA

verified email - 17 Mar 2013

We went to Three Anchors on A tuesday, and ordered the taco special. It was crispy chicken and fish taco's and a corona for $15, very cheap! We also ordered a side dish of potato and mushroom bake for $12. They forgot to bring our drinks, so we didn't get those for quite some time, which was a bit annoying, but hey, it happens. The meal came out and I have to say, it was very small. It was absolutely delicious though! They weren't really taco's, more like large cc's with some toppings, and you got four of them. The mushroom bake was really tasty but very small as well, so we were still hungry at the end. I think they really need to explain the menu a bit better when they take your order, suggesting that meals are quite small and that you really need to order one or two sides each, which we would happily have done. The service was average during the meal, but afterwards we left some feedback about giving customers more info about the menu when they order, and it was very well received (different waitress). It was nice, and I might go back one day for a beer and chips, but probably not for dinner I don't think. Very tasty though :-)

This review is for Albany Toyota, Albany WA

I recently purchased a car from Albany toyota, and found the service to be fantastic. They have a good range of cars on offer, and are happy to keep an eye out for certain cars to come in and let you know. I didn't find them to be pushy at all, and am very happy with my purchase.
