I joined specifically to go to classes, as advised on my initial tour of the club. There are never any spots in any of the classes I am able to attend, I complained about this multiple times to the staff there and was always assured more classes were coming - they didn't. I went to cancel and was advised I have to pay the cancellation fee as well as another direct debit. They advised they are too big to cater for individual members needs, but not big enough to waive fee's when they did not hold up their end of the contract. If you want to actually be helped on your fitness journey, and not just be another face in the crowd, this is definitely not the gym for you.

I joined Virgin Active Gym at Norwest and the staff are cheerful and polite. Keen about fitness and when I joined I got a free backpack, bottle and some other small things which is useful. The reading material was entertaining to read. The whole place has funny slogans in different areas.

The change rooms are modern with free lockers, hair dryers, toilets, showers and changing areas.

I love how modern the exercise machines are though I don't use them but I might eventually after taking a look. You have a screen in front of the treadmills, bikes and some other machines where you can go online or choose a radio station, watch heaps of television channels or choose a scenery to look at as though you are riding through a park or some other scene.

There are many group classes through the day to choose from. Cardiovascular, endurance, aerobic, dance, boxing, mind and body and a few classes which are really unique.

If you come early enough you can pick up a free morning paper, I think it is The Sydney Morning Herald or something like that.

There is free wifi and about 4-5 computers for members.
Online class booking system where you will receive an email and you can send directly to your calendar if you have a smart-phone.

Only slight disappointment was I had heard of sleeping modules / chairs in the gyms but not at Baulkham Hills one.

I always hated going to the gym but Virgin Active Norwest changed this for me!

They provide a fun, relaxing and social atmosphere. They have a whole rage of classes from run of the mill step and kick boxing to hula hoop classes! ( must give it a go- tip stand at the back of the class. you will laugh so much it wont matter the hula hoop is at your ankles most of the time... just think of how many squats you'll get in 1 class!)

They have all the latest equipment and brand new facilities. including trx, pilates reformer beds and those vibrating plates. None of the classes cost anything extra like they try to charge at some other gyms i wont mention.

oh they also have a rock climbing wall!

If your like me and only get important business classes when your busy taking time out... hehehehe... they have free apple computers and wifi available. Its in the cafe area but anyone can use them.

And best of all they have a pool, spa and suana for you to relax and reward yourself with at the end of your workout.

Approximate cost: $25/week

Wow, the apple computers are a strange idea. But it is a good reward for working out.
