The Waterside has really stepped up. I went recently for a lunch and was quite impressed by the quality of the meals served. The servings were of a high standard, great value and service was congenial.
I had the Beef & Guinness Pie. This was no standard pie. On the base of the plate was a moat of flavoursome gravy, a generous mound of creamy mashed potato, topped with a puff pastry pie base (kind of like a vol-au-vent, except much crispier & full flavoured), filled with a beef & guinness stew, and topped with a puffed disc of flakey pastry. This was an enormous serve. Would easily be sufficient for two girls or a very hungry guy. At $18, along with the glass of wine/beer etc, great value.

Decent pub but nothing special other than its been around forever and a day. Interior is nice enough. Prices are ok - not cheap but not outrageous either. Not a lot else going on for it to be honest.

The food and drinks are of a reasonable standard - but nothing special.
Also, it can get very crowded and rowdy.

Meet mates here on occasion for a beer after work. Have had a feed a few times. Good meals, really big. Had the "longneck and parmy" deal. It was a bit of a battle to get through. They don't serve light beer on tap which is a bit disappointing for those who want to have a couple of lights before driving home (you'll have to buy stubbies)

I haven't eaten here but I have just been here for drinks on a Friday night at the rooftop bar. It is an outdoor bar with a great view. It is really nice on a warm night in Summer, but can get very busy. There is also an inside part as well. Get there early on a Friday night before it gets too busy!
