Fantastic chocolate shop on the famous Maling Rd shopping strip. I had the peppermint hot chocolate with a apricot chocolate on the side. All chocolate was organic and fair-trade and also tastes delicious.

Would definitely recommend

Sensational!. Have way too many favourites to name them. Have also bought gift boxes for presents and the recipients were very impressed.

Amazing quality and service in this tiny chocolate shop. We loved the chilli hot chocolates and the unusual flavors of chocolate will give you unheard of taste sensations. Great to visit around Christmas and Easter if you want something very special and unique for gifts.

Cute little shop owned and run by very passionate chocholatiers. The owner explained xocolatl means bitter water in spanish. Wide varieties of handcrafted chocholates, I love the grand marnier ones. This place serves some killer hot chocholate- very rich and creamy.

Chocolate heaven!
A really cute, small shop that offers the most delicious chocolates with interesting flavour combinations. Recently I've noticed they also do gelato - and it's just as good. Service is friendly and I don't usually have to wait long.

These guys not only have a great range of fancy and delicate chocolates, but they also make one of the best hot chocolates around. They have a variety of flavours including but not limited to original, orange, rosewater and chilli. They are sure to please even the most discerning chocolate connoisseur.

Approximate cost: $5.00

Fantastical range of high end chocolates, including all the classics and a few more that are a little more obscure. As the name suggests, there's a strong Mexican influence to their chocolate.

As it has gained popularity, it's hard to squeeze into this tiny little place, but well worth the effort. beautiful hand made chocolates, which make great gift boxes. Often there are themes (chrissy, easter, valentines etc). The hot chocolates are yummy too! When they are run off, service can be a little gruff, but if you go in a quite time, they are usually really good. Yum!

Approximate cost: $1.5 each

Probably the best chocolate in Melbourne. Amazingly creative and inventive flavours. I've eaten chocolate from all over the world, and this is world class. I've never been anything but delighted by the eating chocolate and the drinking chocolate I've had in this shop. Try it, you'll be hooked.

If you ever wake up with the urge to go to Europe but find that your passport is out of date, you have 3 young kids, and a mortgage weighing you down, then this is the stop for you. Xocolatl (choc-a-la-till). This beautiful store has two locations. The first in Maling Rd. Canterbury and the second at 11 Strathalbyn St. Kew East. The moment you walk through the door you feel like you have just snuck away from your contiki tour group and have found the real gem of the trip. The ambience is best described as classic elegance with pinch of the modern. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and appear to really enjoy their job. And who wouldn't? They are surrounded by some of the most delicious and artfully crafted chocolates in Australia. All the standard favourites are there, from caramel to cherry liquer. But, come in with an open mind (and mouth) and you will try such wonders as balsamic strawberry, gorgonzola and mango jelly, basil and champagne, cardamom, and ginger and chilli. With the best coffee I have found around town, sometimes I just pop in for a cappuccino (or 3). But, drinks don't stop there. Come in for the only Chai Latte you should ever have, a choice of four different velvety hot chocolates, a fine cup of imported French tea, or a real iced coffee - they pour the espresso shot over your milk and ice cream at your table. They also offer some menu items such as: strawberry fondue, Scandinavian iced berries, bircher muesli, berry bombe, and a range of gourmet breads with flavours like cranberry and coconut, and banana and chocolate. The business is family owned and operated. And when I say family I mean four people. The father, Christos (head Chocolatier) and his wife Jenny, are most often in the kitchen with their youngest daughter Tina (petite Chocolatier). Madeline, their first daughter can be found either managing the store from behind the counter or locked away in the office getting things done. As far as I am concerned, they should all be nominated for Australian of the Year awards! Sure, if you are trying to loose weight. Don't come in here. But, to all of you who are in that boat - I say, life is too short. Don't let your last words be, "I wish I had gone to Xocolatl!"

Approximate cost: $each choc is abot $1.60, coffees are standard pric
