Never had a bad meal @Zaragosa - and we dine regularly. My husband is quite fussy about his paella and loves the one from Zaragosa. I really like the chile cheese dip, the mequite smoky flavour of the Fajitas, and we never pass on the churros!

Zaragosa is a decent Spanish/Mexican restaurant, the food is fresh and reasonable and the Sangria amazing! Unfortunately the service is too slow and the meals even though they taste nice lack flair and presentation. As it is the only Spanish/Mexican restaurant in Ballarat, I think it lacks competition and therefor has not reached the level of quality it could be, such as Mazamigo in Torquay or Mexicali Rose in Richmond.

Best Spanish/Mexican I've tasted in Australia thus far. Great atmosphere. Wonderful range of imported beers. The meal was very satisfying! Expensive, but well-worth it! The service was friendly. I look forward to the next time in Ballarat to dine here again.

We went to Zaragosa's one night for a work function, and despite there being 20+ of us it all went very smoothly. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, and were able to get a discount for us due to numbers.

The entrees were very tasty, and small enough to get you hungry for the main meal without causing too much of an impact. The Nachos are the best i've seen at any venue - a large serving is more than enough for 4 people, and you probably wouldn't need a main afterwards - heaping piles of corn chips, guacamole, salsa, and sour cream.

The main meals are all reasonably sized and high quality spanish/mexican food.

There is a wide range of beers that are mostly unavailable in other places, including the chilli beer which is an experience best to have for yourself.

DELICIOUS FOOD! We chose some dips to start and they were served in little corn chip cups, which is a really effective way of serving. My partner had Moroccan lamb with couscous that he said it was one of the tastiest dishes he had ever tried. The restaurant is cosy and decorated really nicely. We also ordered some drinks which included a tequilla with chilli lime cordial - it was fantasic! Also the wait staff were very attentive and friendly

Approximate cost: $18-24

During the school hols, the kids away - we will play.

Anyway, tacos took our fancy - so we headed to Zaragosa.

We were very surprised with the size of the meals. We ordered the mini nachos as an entree between us, and it was huge!

Then as a treat we tried the 1 1/2 size of Frajita's mixed. yet another surprise, with all the extras that came with it.

There certainly was enough for both of us, with even leftovers that we couldnt possible fit in

I went here with a huge group of girl's for a Hen's Night last by year. It was $20 per head for heaps of food that kept coming out. Although a lot of the food was a bit on the greasy side it still tasted fine. The cocktails are brilliant !!!!!
The service was absolutely FANTASTIC & our female host made our night simply the BEST : )
Had a ball, ... would recommend to anyone looking to have a function there !!!

Quality: Generally very good. Heavy on the cheese and dairy factor. Also, impossible to find anything without garlic and/or onion. Paella is pretty awesome and worth the wait.

Desserts deserve special mention as they are all non-standard and many (maybe all?) are made on the premises. Some are made as you order them.

Drinks menu is extensive and sensational. Sangria is excellent.

Service: Wait staff friendly and attentive. Nice to see the same faces every visit.

Value: Meals are massive. Bring your appetite as we rarely finish the main meal. In fact, it's impossible to finish if you also order an entree. If you would like dessert, do not order an entree!

Overall: No change rooms for babies. Toilets average (symptom of the premises age). Can be very busy. Advisable to book. They do takeaway, but the meals do not travel well.

Approximate cost: $15-30

I was pleased to see your rating for Zaragosa. You were 'spot on' when you mentioned about the 'takeaway meals not travelling well'. I agree with will of your comments and who knows, we might even meet you there one day. You clearly have good taste in food.
Happy dining!!!

I recently ate at Zaragosa and the experience was just fantastic. The food was beautiful, the surrounds just as nice and the staff were attentive and polite. This is one of the best overall dining experiences i've had in a VERY long time and i recommend it highly.
