I stayed here on the recommendation of a truckie I met over dinner one night at Narrandera - he said his wife was highly impressed with this place, and she is very picky. He was right, the place was great.

Older style rooms but very clean and comfortable. Set a fair bit back from the highway so any trucks rolling past do not disturb you. Plenty of room for parking trucks and trailers - a perfect stopover if travelling the Newell. All I wanted was a comfortable clean bed for the night and this was perfect.

The hosts were very lovely as well.

For a suburban Chinese it is fairly typical, though perhaps a little bit more "upper market" than most in the area - dining in is good. Takeaway can be a little bit slow, but they do get extremely busy. Perhaps a little bit more expensive than you would expect, but the food is very good which makes up for that.

Steve makes a great pizza! Heaps of topping and HEAPS of cheese. Perhaps a little bit expensive but worth every cent in my book. Burgers and other usual takeaway items are all good as well, they have a fair range of salads as well.

Stopped in for Saturday morning breakfast one morning - coffee was good and they had a good breakfast menu. The good was great, the service pretty good, I would go back again.

Service was good but it was very noisy, wasn't a great menu selection and the meal was only okay. Bit overpriced and pretentious.

Just fantastic. Took mum there for Mother's Day dinner and it was just outstanding, the service was great, the staff friendly and helpful, the meals were excellent and the prices were good.

I have been a regular at Magpies for a number of years - the food is generally very good, the chefs specials, while a bit pricey for a "club", are very good. $12.00 members meals during the week is a great deal!
