This review is for Day 2 Day Supermarket, Mile End SA

Spotted this place whilst sitting in the hotel opposite, it used to be a good place for glassware so we decided to go for a look. WOW! The new owners have installed a clay oven and bake flat bread right on the premises. They have a massive selection of Middle Eastern and Asian groceries, some hard to get stuff like dried limes. There's a really nice meat section, everything looks fresh. The owner was incredibly hospitable and showed us around the store.
It is sincerely the cleanest supermarket I've ever been in. Tiny but crammed with stuff. Went back today and picked some sensational walnuts and exotic sour cherry nectar drink.
And the flat breads, hot from the over for 60c each, are spectacular.
This place is close to us, and will get a lot of our business that has been going to the big supermarkets.

In need of a very quick meal, a trip to a local fish and chip shop was in order. being new to the area, we decided to give this one a go.
My wife has the fish salad pack, which was $9.50. I came as on of those segmented polystyrene containers, with a chunk of fish, some nice if unsalted chips, and a bit of salad. She'd probably give the place a 3 star review.
I had the chicken schnitzel pack ($10.50). It consisted of a chopped up thawed manufactured schnitzel, a half-cooked handful of mixed vegetables,a pathetically inadequate drizzle of gravy and again, quite nice chips.
The service was unexciting as well. Quick enough, but no effort to be friendly.
I doubt we'll be back.

*DISCLAIMER* I work for a company whose products are available here so I will not mention some of the stuff available.
The latino breakfast here is sensational, the atmosphere is very family-oriented, the service is charming. It's the sort of place you wind up talking to strangers for hours.
Try the home made cakes as well.
Slightly hard to find but well worth the effort.

We landed in Croydon at 3pm, and saw three cafes and a health food shop in a row. The first café had a brand of tea I just don;t like. The second one had turned their coffee machine off - an hour before closing - and so we could not have tea, and so we went to Red Door.
We should have picked it in the first place. I had a wonderful peppermint tisane and my other half had an excellent coffee. She had a lemon meringue tart that she raved about and I had a Belgian chocolate and set salt biscuit that was truly exceptional.
Rarely have we been anywhere with such pleasant staff, and we took a loaf of brilliant sourdough bread home to continue the Red Door experience with dinner.
Will be back for a meal soon.

Sensational food. There's not a square centimetre in there without a table in it, and there's often a line. Never go a la carte - have the yum cha, wave after wave of delicious, well seasoned food. Booking is a good idea.

Good place for a pub meal, there are better around, but you get a good serve of basic food. Staff are nice. Outside is manky no matter which door you go in through.

I sooo want to like this place. I've been there about 5 times. On all but one occasion my food has been pretty awful. The sad thing is, I've watched everyone I've been with enjoy a really lovely meal, I just seem to pick the wrong dishes. They theoretically close in mid afternoon as a cafe and then re-open as a dessert bar at night, but the two evenings I've tried to go there I've found them closed, with other people milling about not having any idea why they are shut. They do not do potential customers the courtesy of having the hours on the window.
In fact courtesy is the thing that is completely absent. Perhaps because I'm not young and don't have a hipster beard, they treat me like an idiot. I have several times tried to discuss the various teas they have, and each time I get a sort of sneering contempt as though I am too old to understand this new beverage (I'm too polite to mention to them that I work in the tea industry and have published two books on it).
Overall, unless they start to get friendlier, it doesn't matter how good their food it, they won't last.

Eaten here 5 or 6 times, it's always been lovely. Great food, great service. The Mango Lassi has a lovely cardamom hit in it, and all the food is good. The Mango Chicken is very mild and sweet, as is the butter chicken. A good medium spiced option is the Lamb Tarmartar Mumtaz
