Enchanted woods sells just that; enchanted wood. There are creatures carved from local timber and also more traditional wooden products. The shop is part of the owners home and the view from their driveway is excellent. The quality of the sculptures is excellent and they are expensive but not as much as I had expected.
When buying your ticket for entry to the site you also receive a ticket on the cruise. The large boat takes you around the island where convicts are buried and the area where the young boys were held. The cruise is a good way to start because you can see most of the site and get an idea about where everything is before walking around the old prison buildings.

Entry to the Tahune Airwalk also lets you go on any of the other walking trails available in the forest. The airwalk is 20m above ground and gives views over the river and huon pine trees. There are also walks on swing-bridges and through the huon pine. To get to the airwalk there are quite a few steps so you need to be reasonably fit.
Approximate cost: $22
Nice place to stop on a trip along the Huon trail. The centre operates as a school teaching traditional wooden boat building skills to a small group of students. The visitor's centre features exhibits and a video and allows you to view the workshop. Good place to stop if you are interested in woodwork or want to entertain kids on a long drive.

We stayed for two nights on a weekend. We were running later than expected and a staff member rang us to make sure we knew how to get in after reception closed. The motel is situated within a shopping center and the gates are locked at 10pm so that only guests (who are given a key) can enter, so the location is quiet at night. The motel is on Sandy Bay road in a nice area with a large number of restaurants.
Approximate cost: $95
The prices may be more than double the chain pizza stores, but Al Pachino's makes up for it in quality. There really is no comparison in that regard. Service seems slow most of the time and there seems to be more of an interest in serving the regulars and friends than casual diners. I recommend a family sizes pepperoni.
Approximate cost: $20
We only stayed one night but would recommend the Mannum Motel to anyone looking for a friendly stay in an excellent location. The motel faces the Mannum ferry and is a short walk to the waterfront restaurants.
This is a very large kitchenware shop. They stock almost anything you would need and a good range of novelties and gift ideas. It is not cheap but they do have some things you won't find anywhere else. I recommend this store.
10c prints! This is the best that I have found anywhere for standard size 6"x8" prints. I use them constantly, just upload photos to their website and pick them up a few days later. There are heaps of places you can pickup from at $2 fee. Or get them posted straight to you for a bit more.
I've never had a problem with photo quality and problems I've had with incorrect orders have been fixed very quickly and re-posted for free.
They also now do all the gifts that most places do. Photobooks here are about $25 compared with more than $75 at some department stores.

For prints larger than the standard 4"x6" this place has great prices. I get all my enlargements here. They have good deals throughout the year and you get some special ones on your birthday too.
