My partner and I decided to give this restaurant a try after many years of driving past and wondering what it would be like. Being a Friday night at around 6.30, we thought it would be a gamble getting a table without a booking but decided to give it a go.
When we walked in, the restaurant had a lot of empty tables giving us the impression that getting a table would not be a problem. We were greeted by a male staff member and politely asked if we could have a table for two. This staff member looked my partner and I up and down, grinned to himself and told us he wasn't sure if he could help us. He pretended to fiddle with the computer, looked around the empty restaurant and told us in a very smug manner that we could not have a table as they were fully booked for the evening. At this point, it is worth noting, both my partner and I are in our 30's, both professionally employed in management roles, yes we are slightly overweight but we were not poorly dressed. We turned and walked out. Unable to believe that there were no free tables, given our observation of an empty restaurant and believing that we were refused based on looks, my partner called the restaurant and asked a female staff member if there were any free tables around 7pm. She was told that there was plenty and to just come in, that a booking wouldn't be necessary because the restaurant was quiet! Needless to say, we will not be returning!
