The Kingston Aquarium has a wide variety of tropical, marine and cold water fish as well as aquarium products. It has one of the biggest selections of aquarium supplies in Hobart and is relatively easy to find and park.

This pet shops has a good range of products for all types of pets. I normally go for fish products and find they have a good range of fish as well as aquarium accessories at a good price.

This shop is open 7 days a week which makes it very convenient as not all pet shops in Hobart are open 7 days.

This restaurant offers fast take away of a number pre-prepared dishes, which is great if you're after a quick bite at lunchtime. They also cook to order off the menu. They have a number of tables inside and outside so you can soak up the atmosphere of Salamanca on a nice day.

I think this is the best Chinese restaurant in Hobart as they serve the most authentic and good quality Chinese food. They offer both dine in and take away with the take-away generally taking about 15-20 minutes.

There is a nice intimate atmosphere in the restaurant with lovely Chinese decor.

Dr Mark Pascoe is a paediatrician with a friendly manner who knows how to relate to both children and their parents. He explains things in a way that is easy to understand and gives advice that I feel confident in. He is generally on time and has nice clean premises.

This is a little oasis a few blocks from the centre of Hobart CBD so it's a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle and meet friends for a quiet lunch. They have a great menu including lots of daily specials from about $7.50.

It's a lot larger inside than it looks on the outside and there are tables both inside and outside, as well as a few couches.

Approximate cost: $7.50+

haircut was fine but unfortunately the hairdresser used an unclean brush on my hair that was filled with other people's hair. yuck!

I might consider going there again but making it clear that I want a clean hairbrush!

Great lunchtime menu offering well priced meals, eg lasagna and salad for $10. Food service is relatively quick although there weren't many customers, so I'm not sure how fast it would be if there were a lot of customers.

Unfortunately as with most pubs in Hobart, to get into the pub you have to walk through a cloud of smoke as the smokers sit/stand at the entrances. This may be a turn off for families.

Approximate cost: $10+

This all you can eat buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is priced from $22 for breakfast and lunch up to $33 for dinner.

I personally found it a little disappointing, but it depends on the food you like to eat. It is smaller than the buffet at Wrest Point Hobart and I don't think it represents as good value for money.

The desserts are fancier than WP Hobart but I found they lacked flavour. For example, they have a pavlova roll filled with cream that was hard and tasted old. It was covered in a tiny bit of berry sauce but nowhere near enough to give it any flavour.

The soup (pumpkin soup when I went there) was OK but it wasn't as good as some other pumpkin soups I have had (eg Wrest Point Hobart).

For lunch it is probably good value for money but at $33 for dinner I definitely didn't get my money's worth. It does have a reasonable range of food but I think the quality and taste could be improved.

Approximate cost: $33

The bistro/dining area for this pub is separate so you don't feel like you're in a pub at all. It has an extensive menu with many old fashioned pub dishes such as rissoles or bangers and mash. It also has pie of the day, fish of the day, pasta of the day, curry of the day and many other 'of the day' dishes, as well as the normal steak etc.

The rissoles are a great buy and come on a bed of mashed potato. Although they aren't as big as they use to be they are very filling and you probably won't have room for dessert!

The steaks are often slightly undercooked but all the other dishes I've tried have been fantastic.

The atmosphere is great and the food represents good value for money.
