I had read great reviews on WOMOW about this place so we decided to check it out last night. We were going to a movie at Southland so we went here first (it's only 2 mintues away).

For entree we ordered the Chicken satays (my wife is a satay connoisseur) and she was quite impressed. Not the best satay sauce we've had but the chicken was very good quality breast or tenderloin. For the main we had a Chicken with Cashew nuts stiry-fry and this was great, good flavour, lots of veggies but also high quality chicken. None of the food was too oily which was great.

The service was very pleasant and the place was fully booked, so you need to book in advance on a Sat night.

Approximate cost: $15

Had lunch here today and it was quite a busy little place. Standard variety of foccacia's plus all day breakfast. The food is quite nice but not amazing, however the prices are very reasonable.

Approximate cost: $8

We never expected to find such great Thai food in Rye. The restaurant is relatively non-descript with the typical pink colour and cheap decor but the food is amazingly good. The Chicken and Cashew nuts is great as are the chicken satays. We are gradually working our way through the menu but haven't had a bad dish yet.

They also have local beers on tap and sell Singha in bottles.

Approximate cost: $12

This review is for PIZZA D'oh, Blairgowrie VIC

This place is extremely busy in Summer and has close to the best pizzas in Melbourne, but it is let down by it's attitude. The pizza's are on very thin crispy bases with just the right amount of ingredients and not too much cheese/oil.

Unfortunately on both occassions we've been there, we've experienced questionable service. The first time was for take-away and the guy incorrectly typed Large instead of Family into the register. After waiting nearly 40 mins (luckily there is a groovy little place that have beer on tap a couple of doors down) I realised his mistake on the receipt. I quickly ran in to tell him and fortunately the pizza hadn't yet been made. Normally I wouldn't be glad about my pizza not being ready after 40 mins but it turned out for the better on this occassion. To his credit he was apologetic and made sure we didn't miss our spot in the queue.

A week later we decided to drop in their for an early dinner with the kids, when asked if they had a kids menu the lady replied with a blunt "no". Given that the Pasta dishes are $16 and the Pizza's range from $16-$24 you would expect them to offer a cheaper alternative for kids, such as a $6 small pasta. Anyway we decided we could get a $16 pasta for the kids to share, but she then said "we're booked out" in a coarse way. It was about 6pm and there was not a single person in the restaurant, so we asked if we could quickly eat before people arrived but we were given a very abrupt and rude "no".

If they didn't have such amazing pizza's they would never get a customer! I strongly advise the owner to sort out the staff.

Approximate cost: $24 family pizza

This review is for La Porchetta, Sorrento VIC

verified email - 08 Jan 2008

We've eaten at a lot of different La Porchetta's and the Sorrento one is quite well run. The food is what you expect from the chain with standard pizza and pastas at great prices. It's a good way to escape the other more expensive cafes and restaurants in Sorrento, especially if you have kids.

I really enjoy the Barbeque Chicken Pizza, it has a great BBQ sauce and the chicken is not too bad for the price.

Approximate cost: $9
