As bakeries go they have pretty much same as most but the special thing that sets this bakery aside is the fact that they have a drive-thru service so you can now grab that pie and farmers union ice coffee without even leaving the comfort of your car. Also I must add that they have one of the best cornish pasties going around and also inside the shop you can check out their specials and seconds going cheap.
For anyone who has passed through Port Wakefield, maybe on your way to holidays on the lovely Yorke Peninsula, you will know it is quite a popular stop point for food, petrol, amenities etc. Keep an eye out for this little bakery, it will be the one with the line up out to the street! Very popular with those in the know. The savoury and sweet pastries etc are fantastic and you will probably choose your next trip in that direction next time just for a good excuse to stop at Kiplings again.
While doing some house-sitting for friends in Dulwich I visited this bakery, which was down the road from their house, on many occasions. They had a lovely selection of cakes and savouries and while the pricing was not particularly cheap it was within reason and the product was very nice.
Approximate cost: $3.50
I have had quite a few kytons products and have been pretty satisfied with them all but the top of the bunch has to be their lamingtons. You would be hard pressed to find anyone that doesnt think they are the best lamingtons and of course they are great for fundraising purposes which is a bit of a specialty of kytons.
Have had some lovely fresh fish and prawns and pricing is reasonable in comparison to some other fresh fish sellers. Had a couple of pieces of atlantic salmon that was just to die for so was very happy with that and there is always a nice selection and very well layed out for display so easy to see what is available and what looks good and fresh.
While the selection was okay and the quality was okay the service lacked a little. When asked how much for a side of lamb per kg we were told "oh I think it is about $6/kg". When we asked again if that was correct or just a guess we were given the same answer without anyone really bothering to check if it was actually the correct price or not.
I have dined in both the sports bar which has a nice, relaxed atmosphere with pleasant patrons and staff and lovely meals and it was also quite good for taking our 16mth old daughter also as she has some freedom to run around without causing any problems for anyone. Have also dined in the dining room which is a little more expensive but has a lovely salad bar and hot veg bar etc.
While the meals are nice enough the pricing has gone through the roof and the service has dropped significantly since their inception. While once you needed to line up outside to get a table I have rarely seen the place full in recent times and I believe that like myself, people are not happy with the changes they have made to pricing etc. Also they charge for a pizza box to take leftovers home in - shame!!
The restaurant is small and very popular which means tightly squeezed in tables and a little noisy and difficult to get into at short notice however the food they serve is absolutely delicious and very authentic and anyone would be very pleasantly surprised at just how low the prices are.
Approximate cost: $12-$15
We had a wonderful evening with great food and friendly, attentive service which made the slightly pricey dishes seem well worthwhile. As a struggling, low income family we rarely get to enjoy an actual dinner out so it is nice to not be disappointed with the night when you dont get much chance to do it.
Approximate cost: $22-$25
