Fantastic cafe! A little slice of Brunswick Street in Albury. The food is to die for - I've never had a bad meal here. The chai latte is the best in town. Service is always warm and friendly, and all of the girls work really hard (the girl with the glasses is great!). The service in Albury is often super slow but not here - attentive without being annoying. Gorgeous inside, beautiful decor. Can't say enough good things! Best place in Albury!

Lucas and the boys at Belo were absolutely fantastic. They came highly recommended from Kennards Storage Facility in Preston. I called at very short notice (Friday lunch time) asking for a removalist first thing Saturday morning! Lucas was just great - warm, friendly, and they even arrived 10 minutes early. He quoted me 2 hours and they finished at 1 hour 57 minutes. Lucas and his employee worked so hard, not stopping to rest for one moment. They packed my furniture into a storage cage, fitting everything in like a game of Tetris. Best of all, Lucas was happy and positive - there was no negative terminology, and lots of "no worries at all, we can do that!". They really took the stress out of moving. I will absolutely use them again, best removalists I've ever used. Highly recommend! $100 per hour, worth every penny.

This review is for Punch Salon, Preston VIC

I had a fantastic experience at Punch! I had booked in to go to a salon in Ivanhoe but had found them so rude, unhelpful, and snooty on the phone that I cancelled. Desparately needing a haircut, I google and found Punch. The young man on the other end of the phone was polite and friendly, and worked hard to fit me in. The owner is absolutely lovely - she really listened, was friendly and chatty, and gave me a fabulous hair cut and colour. The best I've ever had in Melbourne. The salon itself is lovely inside, vintage inspired without the attitude! Please give these guys a go, you will not be disappointed!

This review is for Maribyrnong Boathouse, Moonee Ponds VIC

I have been to The Boathouse a handful of times given that the décor and location are just beautiful. That is where the good things end! Probably the absolute worst service I've ever encountered: rude, unfriendly staff, who are poorly trained and over-worked. My last visit was by far the worst. The rude floor manager told us in a snide fashion “Welcome to The Boathouse on a public holiday” after saying there was no chance of a coffee “for at least an hour and a half” (A coffee?! Really?!). We decided on food. After being shown to our table, we had to ask for menu's and ask what the specials were, before being told that we were in the “period of kitchen shut down” at 2.00pm. A couple were turned away after being told “lunch is over” (at 2pm?!). We overheard a waitress chastise a couple for changing tables and moving into the sun. She said it was essential that they tell the floor manager in future as it “makes her job a lot more difficult”. However the couple had had the decency to tell the floor manager! Terrible attitudes, poor manners. Overpriced and standard of food has really gone down. After being ignored for another 25 minutes with no orders taken, we upped and left without ordering a thing.
Even a beautiful location does not make up for a truly terrible restaurant. Big thumbs down!

This review is for The Bald The Beautiful Hairdressing, Carlton North VIC

My sister got me onto the Bald and the Beautiful. Beck is amazing at colour and always gets the perfect blonde every time. Fabulous cut and seems to know exactly what I want. The salon is warm and friendly and minus the horrific doof doof music that dominates to many salons these days! Beck is flexible and great with appointment times as she often stays open late. Highly recommended!

I had an amazing up-do at C.U.S. Hairdressing Salon by Gina, when I recently went to the races. Not only was the do terrific, but the owners are so friendly! They had their whole family there, daughter and grand-daughter and you can really feel at home, great vibe. They have had the salon in the family for generations and the great things really shine through: excellent service, great value for money, excellent local knowledge and pride, and friendly, happy owners.

Lovely little salon on Nicholson Street. I've only had waxing done there but they were highly professional, fast and experienced. I've had two therapists and there were both lovely girls, really made me feel at ease. Friendly, easy to book and a great waxing result.
They are also a full hair salon.

This review is for Paris Cat, Melbourne VIC

The Paris Cat is just gorgeous inside and so very French you'll think you've walked downstairs into Paris. The jazz is varied to suit any taste and is very beautiful, played by some very talented people. It is on most nights per week (visit the website for further info, www.pariscat.com.au). The $15 entrance fee is well worth it as the experience of wonderful smooth jazz in the soft red lighting, tiny tables and cool bar are all so very chic. Get there early to avoid missing out on a seat, or book a table.

This review is for Hairhouse Warehouse, Melbourne VIC

I went to Hairhouse Warehouse at DFO Spencer Street 2 weeks ago. I had a terrible experience with foils - a young guy who was very lovely but just obviously had no idea how to do foils. I explained what I wanted but he found it difficult to understand my "big words" so I had to really dumb it down. I wound up with a terrible colour, huge tiger stripes (when I asked for fine foils) and a terrible "regrowth look" line around my head as he didn't colour close enough to the scalp. All in all, absolutely terrible effort and I was very upset! Credit to them I was offered to come back (rather begrudingly by the nasty owner) the next day after I had complained and they did their best to fix it up for free - it did look better however the damage was done and now I have to wait for it to grow out. I was very upset, would definitely not recommend this place for foils.

This review is for Millennium Optical, Melbourne VIC

verified email - 06 Aug 2009

Millennium Optical have just opened in this location, which used to be a cute little T-Shirt shop on Exhibition Street. I have found them to be wonderful: the owner, Igor, is also the guy at the desk and therefore gives you a terrific service. They have an in-house optometrist (Jene) who is there on various days/times (worth contacting to see when avail!). They have some terrific funky frames and sunglasses, a number of which are imported directly from France, and are amazing designs and colours - some really unique and interesting, "ahead of now" specs, while being amazingly cheap for imports! They have also quoted me just $90 to replace the prescription glass in my sunnies, while OPSM quoted me $300, and Spec Savers $179 minimum. Open Mon-Fri 9.00am - 6.00pm, and Saturdays 10.00am - 1.00pm. Highly recommend!
