I went into this shop with my 2 year old son, no stroller so he was walking around looking at toys and books. The staff were incredibly nice to him, one lady showed him a story book with a puppet in it, another gave him a little toy, and they chatted to him while I looked around. I bought him a lovely little toy drum and a nice story book and we left with both of those, and the little toy that they had given him for free having spent a total of $5.
I went in there on a previous occasion and a different woman who was working there gave my son a lollypop (and she even remembered to check with me first if it was ok.) On that occasion I bought a pair of designer kids jeans, adjustable waist, in perfect condition for $5.

The clothing is clean and well organised and displayed, there are toys, books, and some home wares, and staff are lovely. And of course, you're supporting a good cause.

Approximate cost: $0 - $15

Went with my sister and my 2 year old son for breakfast. We sat outside on the lawn and my son played with the toys provided. Most of the toys suit preschool aged children. The breakfast was nice and I especially liked that they did half serves of eggs as lots of places are inflexible about this. My son shared my breakfast and they cheerfully provided an extra plate for him. The lawn area where the children play is not fenced and I found this to be a positive as the parents all sat with and supervised their children unlike other cafes with play areas where parents often let their children go crazy while they sit with their backs turned. There are interesting things to see if you go for a walk after your meal, with some parklands out the back, the river, and a view of containers being loaded across the river and the goods railway bridge, all of which my son found very interesting. The only negative was that their was no gluten free bread or cakes available which was a problem for my sister and a suprise to me as I would have expected this option to be available at such an otherwise flexible and alternative style of place.

Approximate cost: $12

I have visited the restaurant at least 1/2 dozen times. Each time I have been disappointed in the attitude of the staff and the service so why do I go back? I think this restaurant gets away with poor service because of its desirable location which leads people to overlook its other failings. On one occasion I went with a group of 10 or 12 people for breakfast. We made a booking for 11.00. No-one told us that breakfast ended at 11.30 until we arrived. One couple in our group were running late and we were pressured to ring them and get their order over the phone as breakfast was finishing soon. This would have been ok if they could have ordered lunch but lunch was not available until 12. The staff were inflexible and unhelpful about this and the whole morning, which was a special occasion, was ruined by it.
I have found that the cafe is not interested in providing the kind of relaxed flexible service that is needed in this location. On another occasion I called in with a friend and 3 children after playing in the nearby playground. It was 3.30 in the afternoon. We were told we could have coffees but there was no food at all available until dinner at 6. Later a waitress told us we could order pizza but was subsequently chastised by another staff member. They seemed to be making the rules up to suit themselve as they went along and the very strong feeling we got was that they didn't want us there.

I've been to Kidzcity three times with my mother's group and other friends with kids. The centre has lots of great stuff for older kids but my focus was on the under 3 play area as my son is only 18 months old. It is a good sized area and if you are early enough it is possible to get a table adjacent to the play area so that you can see the kids. It does get busy and of course you do need to supervise the young children quite closely as they can be rough with each other and adults sometimes need to intervene. It is disappointing when other parents put their children inside the gate and just leave them to it and that does happen. The coffees and hot chocolates etcetera are good. You can get some basic meals and snacks there but food is not the main focus of the place so it's pretty basic. Their policy is no food should be brought in but they turn a blind eye to the basic toddler snacks like sultanas, cheese slices, little biscuits etc. They did object one day when I took in some bread for my son because they said they sell sandwiches. I thought that was unreasonable as, given his age, I cannot be sure how much if any he would eat of a sandwich made with different bread to what we have at home etcetera. However, I will just be more discreet next time and not wave it around as their main concern was that it would set a precedent that it was ok to bring your own lunch.

Approximate cost: $7 entry for under 3s (plus food, coffee etc)
