Chris, the owner of this store always remembers you and what you bought last time. He is always helpful with his product knowledge and helping work out what products you can and can't combine. He's always happy to order things in if he doesn't have them.

We had a voucher which was $19 for two adult tickets and a snack. We got there and were informed the snack was 1 large popcorn and a soft drink each. I was allowed to exchange mine for a Choc Top which had been made onsite and had a thick layer of chocolate around it.

The lad serving us was lovely and helpful. There was an elevator option but we chose to take the stairs and it was a good 3 flights of stairs to get tickets then down a flight, up a slope and up two flights to be at our seats (yes, I predicted I'd get lost leaving and I did). We loved the pink decor and could imagine that it had been a cabaret hall, full of can can dancers. We were in cinema 3 and the steep climb to the seats meant standing up in front of our seats gave us vertigo but this also meant no one's head was in our way as we watched the movie.

The lavatories needed a little work (no sanitary disposal units, no soap, doors needed kicking open and closed) and the place was a little run down but for me this just added to its charm.

I bought a voucher and got a cut and blow dry for $30.00. I have horrible fine hair and usually dread the hairdresser's and leave close to tears but my stylist spent ages putting in the effort to give my hair some body. It was one of the rare times I liked my hair cut. It was the first time I was given a packet of complementary tissues.

They have regular monthly specials http://www.scenesalon.com.au/Scene-Special-Offers.html

I'll be returning. I have a friend with completely different hair to mine and she has been going there, regularly, for a cut and foils for over a year.

We had the buffet and were very impressed. We were offered complimentary Naan bread but they were forgotten which was perfect as we were too full after beautiful goat curry, prawns, about 12 curries to choose from plus desserts. There is a BYO option.

Approximate cost: $35.00 for Buffet

Having previously eaten from the Menu which was lovely we were excited to go for the $25.00 Buffet. There were 3 meat curries (Butter Chicken, Lamb Roganjosh and Beef Vindaloo) and 3 vegetarian curries (Veg Korma, a Dahl and Chickpea Masala).

We arrived at 1900 and the meat curries had no meat in the dishes, just sauce and the Tandoori Chicken dish was empty so we sampled vegetarian curries first. The Chickpea Masala was lovely and my favourite for the night. The Korma tasted like it had been made with a jar of bad supermarket sauce and the Dahl reminded me of baked beans. They brought out a small amount of meat to top up the meat curries (I felt like I could only politely take 2 pieces of each meat with sauce as the whole restaurant got up when the meat came out and there wasn't enough for even 10 ppl). The Vindaloo wasn't at all hot and the meat was dry. The Korma was lovely and tender but very bland in flavour and the Butter Chicken, again, tasted like a bad jar of supermarket simmer sauce.

The plate of cucumber and tomato looked like last night's with the cucumber appearing dry and shrivelled up at the edges and the tomato looked mushy. We didn't try it. The bowl of chopped melon looked the same but, we took from the bottom, tasted fine and the water melon wasn't mushy.

In fairness the staff looked exhausted and were very friendly. They had a fridge with soft drinks and water which we helped ourselves to as we were not offered drinks. It's a BYO but I'm not sure about corkage.

Approximate cost: $24.95 Buffet

I was thoroughly looked after by a shop assistant who patiently explained multiple product combinations to achieve different colour options for me to DIY my own hair at home. She hand wrote exact instructions of quantities to mix together in which order... I'm very grateful as it could have been a humiliating disaster.

Beautiful beers in a beer garden served by funky friendly staff. Great (slightly costly) menu.

It's a fantastic people watching venue.

The Norfolk Basement, downstairs has live bands and often a Uve DJ plays upstairs on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Friendly staff run this butchers which also sells a range of hot pies, good burgers, roast lunches and drinks.

My favourite are their $5kg chicken with pine nut & spinach sausages which I cook with no oil and no oil comes out. They sell stunning beef rissoles at $7kg. All their meat always looks lovely and fresh with all the fat trimmed off already. Try their hot rissoles too.

Alisdair is fantastic.
After being told by 3 other dentists that I would have to see their "friend" for surgical extraction of my impacted wisdom teeth Alisdair removed all 4 himself. He barely charges me (just my health insurance provider) and last time gave me a goody bag with 7 toothpaste, 2 toothbrushes and mouthwash. He is very kind to his staff (something I rate highly) and kind to me. The only problem is he's very interesting as he talks and u can't talk back because his hands are in your mouth. Love and recommend him!!!
