If you love sauerkraut and European comfort foods and enjoy trying different beers there's a hugh selection of beers especially from Belgium. The food is good and has large portions and is reasonably priced but not inexpensive. It's a good night out for the food and service and a little reminder of Europe, though be warned its rowdy.

This review is for Bavarian Bier Cafe, Moore Park NSW

I think my biggest mistake was thinking I could have my milestone 40 th there and it would be fun. I couldn't have been further from the truth. I asked for a inside table when I booked and paid a deposit which they do when yo book 15 people. But we got an outside table. I have eaten here before so I was looking forward to it, but the second let down was there where no Pretzels and we were told not only had they run out but run out two days earlier. So no one know how to bake a pretzel?
The restaurant was full, it was busy and the staff looked overwhelmed, it was hard to get their attention, I did have the idea of enjoying my birthday but this was quickly descending into a disaster. I wanted an entre but it was brought to my attention that that would only further hold up meals as they where taking 45 mins + to come out so I went for my Favourite pork knuckle and didn't have pretzels or an entre or a cosy table so I could enjoy my Birthday with my friends. There was no up selling there was no feeling special, and getting more drinks whilst we waited we worked out it was faster to go,to the bar and buy a round and serve our selves. When the food did come two of my friends didn't like there's one was fish and chips and chips were coldish and the other was calamari,, he dislike the texture and taste and was offered a replacement but we had waited so long he said not to bother, so a guest at my party was not happy, so I was not happy. My meal was smaller and dryer than previous knuckles, all the plates looked rushed put together without care.
This was the worst Birthday celebration of my life, it was a disastrous meal and there was no management intervention or offer of free drinks or some gesture to make things better. I felt ashamed and let down and will never go there again.
I RECOMEND if your having some European nostalgia and want a good meal go the the Belgian Bier Cafe at the rocks as they now have my business, even though I live closer to the entertainment quarter.
The Bavarian Beirut cafe ruined my birthday, did nothing to make it better and I'm am sorry to my 15 guests that we went there.

This review is for Pancakes On The Rocks, The Rocks NSW

verified email - 17 Apr 2012

This is not food with style but good solid practical food and if you love pancakes it's a must, it's been at the rocks for over 30 years and has a good reputation. I always enjoy a visit pancakes it's sort of Nostalgic now.
I see that they have put ribs and steaks on to keep up with people's changing tastes, but it's ridiculous, what else do you expect when you go to a place called Pancakes. Anyway they have always had a steak but it used to be served on a buckwheat pancake with bernaise sauce but that has gone.
Service is good, expect it to be slightly different during peak periods, but they are open 24/7 so just pick a nice time and savour the vast range of delicious filled crêpes, gourmet pizzas, ribs, steaks and a large range of different pancakes, my favorite is a three stack with whipped butter and there homemade maple syrup.

This review is for Ying Chow Chinese Restaurant, Adelaide SA

verified email - 17 Apr 2012

I was recommended this place by the great staff at my serviced apartments, I had been to a couple of Chinese reastaurants in Gougar Street as its Chinese or a steakhouse for me. This is one of the very best authentic Asian restaurants within Adelaide - Ying Chow is best out of all of them. I enjoyed every thing a tried and every plate was amazing, very fresh, amazingly tasty and reasonably priced. If it is a romantice larger place you are after, then this is not the place for you. This is a cosy, small space filled with people which is a sign of its popularity, a tight sqeeze but its worth it for the great food

This review is for The Pavilion Fitzroy Gardens, East Melbourne VIC

A lovely little Cafe, The Pavilion Cafe, is well located within the central parts of the Fitzroy Gardens. A great selection of treats and a nice menu of freshly made food. The coffee was lovely and service very good. Fitzroy gardens is a lovely place to meander about and relax, especially if your lucky to have some sun and temperate climate. On the eastern edge of the Melbourne CBD, you'll find this a lovely retreat, and the Pavilion cafe a welcome surprise.

This is my little drop in centre, my place I go to unwind and refresh after a busy day going through the shops and spending. This place lacks real atmosphere, but they make it up in a brilliant menu of Chocolate treats. The drinks come in a choice of dark chocolate or milk chocolate and white I have tried them all and they are all great. There is a whole host of other exciting fare to choose from like chocolate pavlova, fresh strawberries and iced chocolate.
This place is a chocolate lovers heaven and it's all absolutely delicious, and better than Max dare I say. Enjoy!

This review is for The Pancake Parlour, Melbourne VIC

Its never quite a completed trip to Melbourne without a visit to the Pancakes Palour, one of the few left over Pancake restaurants from the iconic Chain that saw many restaurants in the 80's and 90's this and Pancakes on the Rocks in Sydney are a few of the last.
The Pancakes a thick and tasty and the Maple syrup delicious, nearly every hotel has a info card section and there's one for pancake Palour buy one stack get one free, we do that each time for dessert. I love the Tabriz, or the crepe filled with chicken and mushroom in a cream sauce. If you want something larger they have a great steak on a buckwheat pancake with hollandaise sauce. A whole range of dessert options like the fresh strawberries. It's all wonderful. I don't know why but the service is as Consistant over the years as the food, whilst the food is excellent the service would be best described as mediocre. old and tired possibly. I can't put my finger on it, but they bring out the food so that's all that matters.
I highly recommend the Pancake Palour. They get a very good rating, if they would lift the service it would be Excellent.
