This review is for Whip-It-Up Cake Supplies, Salisbury East SA

Having had the genius idea to attempt to make a fancy fondant-icing-decorated 1st birthday cake for my daughter with zero cake decorating experience, I was in desperate need of quality products and much encouragement. I found both at Whip-It-Up Cake supplies. Easy to find and conveniently located, they had an extensive range of icing products and cake decorating supplies in a clear and clean layout. It was also reasonably priced and they do cake tin hire. The lady who served me (presumably owner) was very friendly and professional, and she made it seem like the task ahead was very do-able. With her backing and my youtube instruction on 'how to put fondant icing on a round cake' I confidently went to the task. The products I had been sold were really good to work with, fresh and tasty, and it turned out I either have hidden talent or I managed to pull out one of those random surprising successes and the cake was an 'ooh aah -er'! So now I am bitten by the cake decorating bug and shall be returning to 'Whip-It-Up'.

I have used these guys a few times now for tyres and wheel alignments. I find them to be a little bit cheaper than the Adelaide stores and the service is very thorough and friendly. On all occasions they have completed the job to satisfaction and have been accommodating. The wheel alignment prices are very good and I feel confident to go to them. I realise some people may find us confused as we own both a Ford and a Holden, but these guys have worked on both effectively without judgement!

This review is for Sizzler, Mermaid Beach QLD

If my husband had to choose between Sizzler and me it would be a close call! In fact I believe that he thinks my time would be best employed focussing all my energies on a 'bring back Sizzler to Adelaide' campaign. He is starting to rub off on me though and this particular Sizzler was the best so far. Lots of great salad varieties, very fresh and the delicious spicy chicken tortilla (especially with extra ranch on the side) made for a great meal. The kids thought it was fantastic too. It is a little on the pricy side, would be excellent if they did some discount promotions, but if you go for lunch you won't need dinner that night. The service was fantastic, very accommodating, and the restaurant was very clean. Roll on the next capital city with Sizzler!

Approximate cost: $17 for salad bar.

This review is for Dreamy Donuts, Elizabeth SA

These donuts are so good that when we visited the Gold Coast I dragged my poor friends miles out of the way, promising to reward them with the best donuts ever, only to find that tthe store had closed down. Aahh! The one in Elizabeth is still alive and kicking though and the choc covered custard filled is delish. They have good coffee and donut deals and friendly, clean service. Very fresh and lots of choice.

Every now and then one needs to take time out to stop and smell the pappadums. I suggest doing it at this Indian Restaurant. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch here on a recent trip to Melbourne and really enjoyed it. Played it safe with butter chicken and garlic naan and it was delicious. Equal best I've tasted. The other members of our party equally satisfied. Service was friendly (and patient!) and value about right. The menu options were very extensive and the surrounds were pleasant and very tidy.

Discovered this place by accident on a recent trip to Melbourne and loved it! We ended up going back several times. The price was very reasonable, the taste was one of the best I've tasted, they load the pizza with topping and everything is so fresh. The staff were lovely and friendly and even threw in a free drink on top of already good value. They make gluten free bases fresh to order (no pre-prepared) and don't charge the earth for it either. I want to ship the whole store back to Adelaide! If you are going to eat pizza, eat pizza at Eat Pizza!

I took a chance and got a $59 Cudo Voucher for these guys which included a service and wheel alignment. I had heard of a few bad experiences from others getting these type of vouchers with different mechanics so was a bit nervous. We were pleasantly surprised however, redeeming the voucher was straightforward, they were friendly and accommodating, there were no hidden catches and they readily agreed not to do anything extra without calling first. The biggest surprise however was that when we went to pick up the car and braced ourselves for all the extras that needed doing, they said there was nothing needed doing the car was in great condition (a credit to our usual mechanic 'out n about', see other review and sorry Tony for the once off unfaithfulness!)

This review is for JADS Hairdressers, Victor Harbor SA

I'm a glass half full kinda person so don't like to write a negative review, but in the interest of truth and balance I have to on this one. Having not been able to get into my usual hairdresser (Sassy Hair see separate review) I desperately needed a trim and booked into JADS. I was nearly put off by the fact that it was $40 for a trim only, now shampoo or blowdry, but I was starting to look like mountain woman so bit desperate. The hairdresser I got was a really sweet girl, chatty and down to earth. The haircut was nothing to write home about, just an ends trim and tidy up. When I went to pay, the desk lady asked for $55! I baulked a bit and said just had a trim, but apparently hairdresser had classified it as a full style cut so that was that I bit my tongue and vowed not to return. For the record, no-one even noticed I had had my hair cut!

Ok I confess, we were one of those 'we need to have our kitchen done before Christmas and need you to drop everything to help us' clients. Enter knight in shining armour at Cattell Creations. We wanted to get glass inserts with leadlight put in overhead cupboards as a feature, and Cattell did an amazing job. It was so good I couldn't stop dusting the cupboards! The price was the most competitive, the workmanship beautiful and even the kids had a blast as they got a leadlighting demo and little glass diamonds to take home. Such wonderful service rarely seen in this day and age, they definitely went the extra mile.

This review is for Red Rock Noodle Bar & Restaurant, Para Vista SA

Whenever my mum comes to visit me we pay a mandatory visit to Red Rock. We love it! We generally order the same thing every time, Shanghai Noodles and Kim Chi noodles and find we can't go wrong. It is fantastic value for money and by the time we have knocked off dessert of fried icecream and banana fritters we are well satisfied. The atmosphere is great casual dining and very kid friendly with indoor playground and video games. In fact we usually linger so long that we get the 'lunch time session is over and you need to leave but I'm trying to keep smiling and be friendly' look. Will go back again and again. Ideal for mother's groups and get togethers
