This review is for The Grosvenor Hotel, Victor Harbor SA

On the hunt for a decent, reasonably priced meal to feed our family and friends of ours (4 adults and 7 kids between us), we stumbled upon the Grosvenor menu. $10 t-bone special Tuesday and $9.90 other pub fare items sounded good so we gave it a shot. Probably not the best choice as tables were packed really close together so hard to manouevre pram, and the glares we received upon entry from the senior citizen clientele were a little unsettling (the kids all had one of their rare model behaviour moments so hopefully we were vindicated slightly). The staff were cool bordering on rude. I ordered the t-bone medium rare and could barely get my knife through it, so overdone. When I pointed this out they said I had to wait 35 minutes to get another one. So I got my money back and left hungry. I managed to get a gritted teeth apology, which I still did rate, so I gave a cheery 'no worries" and we left on good terms. The others in our party also found the food average and dissatisfying.

This review is for Nino's, Victor Harbor SA

I was on the hunt for a tasty gluten free pizza which is easier said than done. After a bit of a ring around I found that Nino's not only did gluten free pizza, they made the bases themselves to order (a lot of places use a generic pre-prepared base). I have to say that it was far and away the best gluten free pizza I have ever had. It was a true bright spot in my world of no wheat! The staff were very cheerful and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. It was a little pricy (and gluten free was extra) but it was fresh with generous topping and as a treat I will be going again next time I am in town.

Approximate cost: $16 gluten free regular

This review is for Aquadome, Elizabeth SA

Ended up at the Aquadome by default one day and hadn't been for years but was really impressed with the place. It is one of the best value for money pools and the kids loved the waterslide, which unlike other places, was a flat fee for unlimited rides during specified times. My youngest loved the kids pool and it is a great setup in terms of variety and safety. The lifeguards, particularly the one who seemed to be in charge, were really on the ball, and the times we have been there we have not experienced any unruly behaviour or danger. We have subsequently been back.

This review is for The Dive Shack, Keswick SA

My husband got his open water dive certificate with these guys and they were fantastic. The value for money was great, reasonably priced for the course and he got a free quality wetsuit as a promotion. My husband was unable to attend their weekend scheduled course times but they were extremely accommodating to work around this, all with a cheerful attitude and willingness to help. In all our dealings they have been friendly and professional, with a high quality of safety standard.

This Hotel is fantastic value for money for a family. The kids love the playground and the food and it is a great family atmosphere. We recently went on a Monday night so the kids ate free. We couldn't believe how cheap it ended up being, and there were no hidden conditions with the promotion. The salad bar is delicious and extensive and the meals are hearty and tasty. The atmosphere is great family dining. Highly recommended and we will return.

This review is for Bubbles Indoor Play Cafe, Golden Grove SA

verified email - 06 Mar 2012

The kids really enjoy going to Bubbles and we can easily spend a few hours there. Have three paying kids so play cafes can get quite expensive but Bubbles offers the discounted price from 3pm which is great. They also had a recent online promotion which was fantastic value, so good to see this kind of marketing. The play areas are clean, safe and imaginative and the food available is a good variety and reasonable priced. The only thing is it can be a bit difficult to navigate between tables, particularly with a pram.

This review is for Mt Torrens Hotel, Mount Torrens SA

One of our hobbies is to go with another family to Adelaide surrounds discovering different places to eat. We have seven children between us so we are constantly on the lookout for reasonably priced and kid friendly hotels/restaurants. We discovered the Mt Torrens Hotel one day by default as the surrounding areas were far too expensive on humble budgets but we ended up really enjoying our dining experience. The food was really tasty homestlyle pub fare and the atmosphere was pleasantly quaint. The staff were friendly, the prices very reasonable, and the drive to get there was very scenic. The location was great as a gateway to explore other Adelaide hills towns. We will go back.

This review is for That's Amore Pizzeria, Highbury SA

verified email - 06 Mar 2012

We first heard of That's Amore after receiving a two for one voucher in a welcome pack when we moved house. We really liked the casual atmosphere and kid friendly environment. The pizza was really nice and they have gluten free options which is a real bonus. It is a little pricey however for us to be able dine there more often. They would maybe benefit by having some more promotional incentives such as birthday buy one get one free meal vouchers or cheaper specials options on certain nights. As far as italian cafes go though it one of my preferable ones.

This review is for Sassy Hair Studio, Encounter Bay SA

Once you go to these guys you will keep coming back! I travel two hours just to get my hair done here. Award winning hairdressers who now work from home, they are skilled and competent. It is a reprieve for me to get my hair done and they make it a relaxing and indulging experience. They are thorough and helpful in guiding colour and style decisions, I am also pampered with cappuccino and good conversation. Very reasonably priced for the high standard of service that is offered here.

This review is for Carpet Selection Centre, Pooraka SA

We needed one room of our house carpeted and were after a no fuss, no frills approach. This is what we found with this company. Personable service, genuine honest sales approach, prompt installation and a very good price. They had a great 'end of roll' selection, so we got a good quality product for cheaper. We would use them again.
