There are quite a few psychologists at the clinic, but I can only comment on Dr Christie Sproat.

Christie has a very holistic approach. She's really good at coming up with useful strategies for dealing with stressful events or situations, as well as looking at other factors like diet, exercise, sleep, etc, which can all contribute to stress and low mood, as well as more serious mental health issues. Oh and she doesn't give out homework which is a bonus!

She is very approachable and empathetic. Everyone's different, but I found I clicked with her straight away. When I first started going, I had a lot of issues to deal with, some of them going back a long time, but with Christie's help I've been able to resolve them for the most part, something I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to do. I still see her monthly for help with strategies at dealing with everyday problems at work and in relationships etc, and I find it really useful just to check in and discuss little things that have come up since I saw her last.

There's a long wait list to see Christie (some of the others at the clinic seem to have much shorter waiting periods but again I can't say whether they're just as good). I had to wait nearly 3 months, so obviously it's not ideal for anyone with a serious mental health issue that needs urgent help, but I would still recommend going on the waiting list and getting other help in the mean time.

The reception staff are really friendly and helpful, and not at all judgmental. I've never had to wait longer than 10 mins to see Christie.

Sessions are $140 (less if you have a health care card). Sounds expensive but if you get a GP referral, Medicare will reimburse you $120 for up to around 12 sessions a year, so I only pay $20 per session, and it'd be free if you have a health care card.

Approximate cost: $20 after the Medicare rebate

I saw Nick Kirmos (the receptionist said he now owns it, but Daniel Grant still works there) and he was great. The receptionist/dental nurse (Janelle I think?) is also really friendly and helpful. They both took the time to explain the best type of toothbrush and proper brushing and flossing technique, which I'd been doing wrong for years as my previous dentist (now retired) never went over it with me.

It's a bit hard to find. It's on Station St but you have to go through an arcade walkway thingee and it's out the back on the right, up a ramp. It's a really small practice, not computerised and you need to take cash, but I imagine this is how they keep costs down. A check up and clean cost me only $90 (I think it was $30 for the check up and $60 for the clean). When I called a few other dentists, I was quoted $150-$200.

I thought the service was great and much cheaper than other ones in the area. Would definitely recommend them.

Approximate cost: $90 for a check up and clean

I first went about 2 months ago after seeing reviews on here and on truelocal.com (? I think) that said it was excellent value. Parking outside and looking at the salon, I thought to myself that I probably wouldn't have gone there if I hadn't read the reviews, but luckily I had! It's not the biggest or most trendy looking salon, but who cares? I'd rather get a good price for a quality haircut than pay extra to cover some fancy salons' expensive overheads.

Nicky (spelling?) really paid attention to what I wanted, asking lots of questions to make sure she understood. When she finished, it was exactly what I'd asked for, but the colour didn't look the way I'd thought it would. Even though it wasn't her fault, Nicky offered to redo the colour then and there despite the fact that it was closing time and would take another hour or so. This time I absolutely loved it, and when she asked for only $80, I told her I was happy to pay more for the extra foils and all the hassle, but she insisted $80 was fine.

I went back today for a trim (I have pixie short hair) and for more foils. I wanted to try slightly different colours this time to mix it up a bit, and Nicky took the time to discuss it all with me before starting and helping me work out which colours would work well. Again, she did a great job and I couldn't be happier with the value I'm getting.

I've never had a regular hairdresser before (I've had some absolute shockers in the past) and it's so nice to have finally found one who I trust completely and who isn't interested in ripping me off!

Approximate cost: $80 for a style cut and colour
