I ordered a chest of drawers and bedside table for my daughter. Upon delivery, at that time, furniture removalists, delivery men, tradies, all were still allowed to deliver and work inside so long as everyone wore masks and socially distanced themselves. You couldn't visit family or friends though (that changed the following week).

So the delivery men came and wanted to leave it outside on the path / open verandah near the grass. I asked them to please take it upstairs to my daughters room because I am not far of 60, middle aged woman with a 17 year old daughter and there's just the two of us. Plus, I'd paid for delivery.

They just said, "No , we can't come in because friends and family aren't allowed in your house". I just looked at them and thought, "You're mad", because I didn't know them from a bar of soap. So I said as much, ie. "We not related and we're not friends so, could you please deliver it into my daughter's room? Thank you".

They just said again, "Friends and family aren't allowed inside" which was getting a tad tedious so again I responded with the fact that I'd never seen them before and asked them to fully deliver their product to where it had to go. They repeated "Friends and family ..."

I was dumbfounded. So I said well, I can't accept delivery then because it will still be sitting here for weeks and weeks and rain was on its way (it rained later on that day). Would have been completely ruined.

So they took it back and I tried to ring the company to say that I would arrange my own delivery but there was a message saying no -one was answering the phone. Because of Covid. What? Many other businesses had switched their office phone to someone working from home but you couldn't leave a message. So email it was.

Upon emailing the person who responded there (James, I think it was?) he said they couldn't deliver because ..."Friends and family are not allowed inside the home". Jesus wept. I nearly did too. I responded via email that I. Didn't. Know. His. Delivery. Drivers. so they he came back with the fact that he was going to charge me a second delivery fee for them taking it away again. What did he think I could do with them?!

(Also the bit about the new delivery fee may have come before him saying "Friends and family ...." There were a few emails back and forth.

So then I rang a delivery company and got hold of someone who actually picks up from Living Styles warehouse (they do other stores as well but Living Styles was one of their cusomers). What luck~. So I told him I needed it taken upstairs and he promised the of course he would do it.

I told Living Styles that I was arranging my own courier and he would be there to pick it up on Friday. James from LS told me uh-oh, still on his truck and wouldn't be off loaded until Monday. But would refund the original delivery fee. That's good. So waiting over the weekend (just moved house to so my daughter had opened boxes and suitcase in her room waiting on it so quite messy and depressing) but that's ok.

Contacted new driver, said he would pick it up on Monday after other guys offloaded and drop it off to me after work on Tuesday afternoon; Great~! Rang him Tuesday evening; he couldn't load it because Living Style's warehouse guy didn't give it to him. ?? So promised he or another driver would pick it up either Wednesday or Thursday morning and deliver it either Thursday evening or Friday morning.

His delivery partner literally rang Living Styles warehouse guy whilst in transit and gave them my order number so it would be ready to go for next loading. I could hear the conversation because they were yelling over the noise of their own truck's engine. The warehouse said he found it and would put it aside.

Happy Days. Not.

Rang Friday morning because realised I didn't have a time window from delivery guy; He said went to pick up on Thursday and warehouse guy changed his tune; oh no , some problem with the paperwork and wouldn't give him the goods. Delivery guy then said, oh another of our drivers was there yesterday as well and they wouldn't give it to him either.

I had already paid via PayPal full amount.

Long story short, I was clearly being given the run around. I don't know how they would have kept me waiting, if ever. I couldn't believe it. The worst - I mean, the WORST customer service I have ever found!!

Cowboys and buyer beware!! No phone contact; bizarre behaviour all around and actually completely 100% unprofessional and to be frank, a little bit weird.

I screenshot excerpts of some of our emails to PayPal (opened a dispute and so they give the other side opportunity to respond) and it ended up PayPal literally gave me full refund within 24 hours dispute resolved in my favour. Since two pieces were over $1,100+ combined, it was a large sum of money they were giving me run around for and I still, am completely dumbfounded at the behaviour.
