Funerals of Compassion

On Sunday the 10 July my husband and I contacted 3 funeral directors with regards to the impending arrangements needed for my Dad.

Nicky contacted us within an hour at 7pm on a Sunday night.
Whilst Dad's passing was imminent, we were shocked when he passed away the next morning.

Due to Nicky’s promptness, demeanor and compassion on Sunday night, she was the first person we rang, even though Funerals of Compassion offices are well out of our area.

The nursing home he was at, unfortunately, had no mortuary or storage facilities, so we were very happy that Nicky had transport organised within 1hr of the death certificate being signed.

Nicky has made herself available at all hours in our time of need, solved problems, and answered all our (sometimes mundane) questions.

She travelled an hour to see us, and her presentation, compassion and professionalism was exceptional.
She has led us to solutions to logistical problems, and has made a very stressful time easier than it would otherwise have been.

The day of Dad's farewell was beautiful. Everything was exactly as I wanted.

My son and l knew we were in good hands as soon as we met Nicky and John. No pressure just kindness. They listened to our story and our needs and kept in touch throughout. Different from most we made funeral arrangements while my husband was in palliative care. We wanted to make sure his wishes were met. Nicky got to know about my husband, and our family and made it easy to talk about those hard decisions at such an emotional time.

Nothing was too much. Even a last minute phone call the night before the service to make some changes were effortlessly met.

They’re are a genuine family business who cared about our family.

Nicky ask me what was most important to me and l said not to have to worry about anything on the day and that’s exactly how it went. It was beautiful.

In the worst time of your life, Funerals of Compassion make everything that little bit easier. Nicky is kind and attentive. John was helpful and respectful. With the sudden passing of my dad, we didn’t know what to do. We had deaths in the family before but all of them happened overseas and this was the first time in Australia.

We initially contacted the well-known funeral services as advised by friends but they could only do the burial within two to two weeks and a half. As we prefer to have the burial within a week’s time from our father’s passing, we searched the internet for other companies with excellent reviews and could possibly cater to our needs and found “Funerals of Compassion”.

John assisted us from start to finish without any issues. We advised him of our preferred days for the funeral and he was able to organise it within a day. He explained the processes involved and arranged/organised everything accordingly. Whenever we have queries, he responded promptly. In addition, John updated us every step of the way. John and his team did more than what we’ve expected. They were very professional, compassionate, understanding and kind. Most of all, the service was done beautifully.

From our very first contact I knew I was in the right hands as you steered me through the process. You were prompt and punctual with all your communication and kept me updated at all times. The extra services you provided from arranging the viewing, the service format, booklets, photo montage, and all the small details that are required were handled so professionally and eased any stress involved. I would like to make special mention of the flowers Vicki arranged, they were spectacular, and I have arranged to have some professionally preserved.

Our extended family and friends shared how beautiful the service was and made special mention of Father Solomon and the vocal support of pianist.

John and Vicki are the most compassionate people when it comes to organising a funeral from start to finish. Their genuine care and attention to detail not only makes the whole process seamless, but they go above and beyond what a generic funeral service would provide. This is the second time we’ve used John to organise a family funeral and we will continue to use ‘Funerals of Compassion’ for any future ones as well.

Our uncle passed away suddenly so we were unprepared for getting arrangements sorted, however John was able to pull it all together in just over a week so that we were able to give him a beautiful send off. It was a similar situation with my mother-in-law and John was there every step of the way, making sure she was well taken care of. He kept us up to date with what was happening and worked with us in making both funerals exactly what we were hoping – actually exceeding our expectations. That is the type of service you get with a family owned and run business.

I cannot & could not ever express how impressed I was was Nicky & Funerals of Compassion. From the first phone contact with Nicky and even post funeral care, paperwork etc Nicky and the team were exceptional without fault. At such a time of grief and confusion Nicky made the entire process seamless. Her attention to detail was above and beyond what we had expected. She has a genuine interest and concern for the one who has passed but also their family / friends. Having myself arranged a funeral the week before in another state and comparing the care, expertise, professionalism and cost, we were simply blown away with Nicky and Funerals of Compassion. Full of compassion and love into everything they do for those when in need.

Funerals of Compassion are the only lovely people to contact when your loved one has passed. Nicky and John were very understanding and did everything just as we wanted. Out of their own kindness they brought the most beautiful flowers for my loved ones coffin. Nicky even found a particular coffin that my sister liked and approved of before her passing. 5 star service. Nicky and John go out of their way to help. Prices and good and fair.

Nicki and John were very compassionate and caring regarding the arrangement of my late husband's funeral service. The service was handled very professionally and carried out with the minimum of fuss and attendees commented that it was the nicest service that they had attended. I requested that the Celebrant had a bright and bubbly personality and Danni Merchant was absolutely perfect.
