The staff at this nursery are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They have a great range of plants in various sizes.
Some of their prices are a lot higher than other places, eg Bunnings, K&D plants etc, but you will get quality plants and great advice.
This is a female only gym which offers a great range of classes and equipment. Most of the staff are also female, but a few class instructors male.
They offer free childcare (the room is a bit old and dated but is OK for an hour).
The lunchtime and after work classes can be very crowded, but early-mid morning classes are OK.
They regularly have offers with no joining fee etc and will offer a free trial week if you ask for it.
Approximate cost: $20/week
I have used this gym many times on a casual basis to attend zumba classes. Classes cost about $14 for a casual visit.
I've tried a lot of zumba classes at various gyms around Hobart, and I have to say EJ is one of the best zumba instructors I've seen. While some of the moves can be quite complex it makes the class go fast. Her music choice is great.
If you join as a member, they have free childcare available.
Approximate cost: $14
La Porchetta is a family friendly restaurant with a great range of pizza and pasta on the menu, as well as other choices like steak etc.
They have a well priced child's menu which includes a main, drink and icecream (great selection). They also have pencils and colouring in sheets to keep the kids entertained.
They have a 25% off voucher in the Entertainment book
Approximate cost: $20
I arranged to meet family here one night for dinner (not my choice) and wasn't really looking forward to a pub dinner, but was pleasantly surprised. The decor is very modern and trendy, and you feel like you're in an upmarket restaurant, with great quality food but without the high prices.
The services was fantastic. Staff were attentive and were happy to cater for menu alterations. They bought drinks etc over promptly.
I would definitely go again.
They are in the Entertainment Book too as a buy one main get one free
Approximate cost: $30
This quiet little coffee shop is tucked away in the Imperial Arcade off Collins St.
They make all their muffins, soups and bagels on site fresh every day. The quality and taste is wonderful and all items are well priced.
They have a rewards program for coffees and muffins.
This little cafe is situated in the ground floor of the Library building in Murray St. It's quite small and not necessarily great for prams. It has an inside or outside area.
Great place to meet friends if you work in the city, or after a trip to the library with children.
If you're looking for a child friendly hairdresser, this is the place to go!
There is a fantastic kids play area in the corner where kids can amuse themselves while you have a haircut.
The staff are friendly and great with kids haircuts too.
Centrally located, this motel is nothing special but is of the same standard as many others on the main road.
We looked in rooms of lots of other hotels and found this one to be better value for a family of 4.
My children remember this hotel well because it had an aviary outside our room.
The owners were very accommodating and bought us the things we needed.
Approximate cost: $130
We went on the PS Canberra and used a voucher out of the brochure "Let's Go Kids" so it was well priced.
We saw a few other paddle steamers on the Murray and I have to say this was the best one to take kids on. It was small, personal, the kids got to see everything, talk to the Captain, steer the boat and get a certificate to say they steered a paddlesteamer!
If you're taking your child on this one, check out the ABC Kids episode of "Little Ted's Big Adventures" because it has PS Canberra and the Captain on it.
Really interesting tour for adults too. We learnt a lot about life on the Murray River.
