We recently had some outdoor blinds installed and had a few issues with the installation.

The installers, I dare not call them trades people, were terrible. The mess that was left was disgraceful, the damage to our eaves will necessitate the eaves being repainted. They used our expensive outdoor furniture, which is less than 6 months old as a work bench and the quality of the installation leaves so much to be desired. One of the blinds has been installed in such a way that there are exposed screws that that have been hacked off with an angle grinder and left with sharp edges that would slice a finger open. We were told that this blind would be installed using a spacer but the outcome was that it was installed using a piece of angle which is why there are exposed screws.
The blinds have locking pin's in the bottom rails which due to the way they have been installed there are only two of the four blinds in which these pin's be used. One of these two blinds the only way to use the pins would be to close the blind with someone in the pool area and once the blind is closed and the pin's are in position that person would need to climb out over the pool fence. When I questioned this I was told that they installed it this way because you couldn't reach the pins through the fence which is complete rubbish and makes no sense at all.

In addition to the installation issues there is the issue of the remote. We were quoted a 16 channel somfry remote and were given a 5 channel remote. We specifically asked for the 16 channel remote as we wanted to be able to use the one remote to control the 4 outdoor blinds that Watson's installed as well as some new Vergola's that we were about to have installed by another company, thank goodness!.

We also purchased the somfry WiFi bridge which the installer basically handed to me at the end of the job and told me that they don't set them up and that its easy to do yourself. The box looked second hand and had someone else's name on it which might explain why there were no instructions. About 3-4 frustrating hours later I managed to find some information online that I could use to set the device up.

Despite our disappointing experience in relation to the installation I was optimistic that I just needed to email Watson's with a list of defects and provide them with some feedback regarding our experience. I genuinely thought they might appreciate as it would allow them to address the issues though the development of some Team training. Unfortunately it appears that the performance onsite may simply be a reflection of the culture throughout the entire business. It has been over six weeks since I went to the trouble of sending them a lengthy and detailed email including photos and to date I have not received so much as an acknowledgement of my email.

Based on our experience so far I would suggest that if you are looking to use this company for anything whatsoever DON'T. Please do yourself a favour and find someone who will appreciate your business.

Like the lady in their television add we will not be a repeat customers and it will have nothing to do with the quality of the products.

Approximate cost: $20000
