good point. service was good.
having eaten at many Thai restaurants as most of us have, this is worst excuse of Thai food I have ever tasted

I should have know when the two basic things we always order to compare (and eat) - curry puffs and spring rolls - were pretty much inedible, the curry puffs being filled with some inedible tasteless filling

also when I asked about the specials on the board, they were really unable to explain just what they were or how they were prepared/cooked.

and the curries when they came (a fish curry off the specials, and a chicken yellow curry were almost as inedible (and the chicken curry had very little chicken although the fish curry did have lots of fish, even if it taste fairly horrible)

first ever time we not only didn't finish our curry puffs and spring rolls, we didn't take anything away as leftovers

NEVER GO HERE. Although not expensive, awful.

nice table with views of river.
interesting Japanese fusioon menu mixed with traditional sushi & sashimi and others. entrees such as dumplings and shrimp rerasonably priced at $12-$17. main likewise not unreasonable at $28-33.

the wine list was quite a nice list but the prices were just exorbitant ... cheapest wine being $55 and others $145. and i am not talking wines that would normally be that expensive

anyway the service was excellent and very helpful

the edamame was nice but teh beans themselves weren't really good (and we do like them with chilli & garlic noit teh tradituional salt). shrimp p[opcorn was nice. the wagyu dumpling were excellent and teh stuffed gallatine of quail very pretty and good. the braised pork belly with daikon and poached egg also good if not so pretty. and plenty of other interesting dishes to have.

so we might have been tempted to return, but the wines prices just spoiled it. so Sono (@ Portside) remains our firm favourite. And Wagamama for casual ambience and noodles

We come here for lunch every time we first arrive at Noosa.

they kept our lovely beach side table although we were 30 min late (we called).

we both had prawn & pork dumplings w viet. salad. really lovely.

tehn thelma had scallops which she loved (liking scallops is a new thing for her)

and i had baby octopus which were equally delicious

nice reasonable wine list. here it must have been the Brokenwood Semillon.

great spot, casual but lovely tasting, lovely looking food. good efficient friendly service. what is not to like? come on down, enjoy, and set up your week-end. :-)

i very rarely give five stars, but in this case it was more exceptional than great. prob 4 1/2. :-)

As some reviews elsewhere wder less than kind aboiut servoice and other aspoects, it was with some trepiodation, but i went wioth the other good reviews, and we were niot disappointed. Not one aspect of the poor reviews was correct in our case and the restaurantant as far as we could tell with keen obserrvation. :-)

First teh service WAS excellent form start to finish from te moment we walked in door, by all staff that we were attended by, and we particularly so liked our main wait person Talluah.

Thelma started with Scallops & Prawns and i had Hot Smoked Salmon. i thought the salmon was just really really good. Thelma not so impressed with her scallops, preferring the scallops she had had at Belondos for lunch. Both dishes look great on the plate.

Mains, Thelma had Pheasant Pie and i had the Pork Belly (w Prawns). Both very nice dishes and presented beautifully. I though that the Pheasant Pie was a bit dry (i tried of course :-), but tasted w/o any of the accompaniments.

Because it has now been a little while i can't recall the detail of any of accompaniments of any these :-(

btw, i think these may have been all entrees as is our wont.

The wine list was good (they have awards) - and NOT overly expensive. i think we had the Brokenwood Semillon, a particular favourite. No, we didn't! We had a NZ pinot. thelma doesn't like red as much as me, so i went for lighter style, although pinot is notoriously variable in quality, but this was very nice (and certainly a change from my usual Cab Sav or similar. :-)

Decor and ambience were very nice, not overly flashy or splashy, just nicely understated and comfortable. Light levels (my bete noir in restaurants) were fine, just. Why don't restaurants, fine dining particularly, wake up to the scientific fact that food literally tastes and smells better the better the light to see it!

btw, the hot smoked salmon (w accompaniments) was my pick on the night.

We will return hopefully to be impressed again.

looking around for breakfast and although we tried to find somewher quieter ended up at Tenerife on main drag (Vernon Ter)

the place was very busy, but we timed it just right as it got even busier after we got our table
with the menu, you are sploilt for choice. so much to choose from and so many options.
as well they do some very interesting and nice fresh juices which we had instead of coffee or tea.
from start to finish, despite being packed (Sun morning), the service was uniformly efficient, speedy and friendy.
everything arrived as ordered w/o a hitch
the poached eggs were just right. i had ordered with Turkish bread (you have a choice of about five) which was really nice and went well (although one piece didn't seem to be toasted)
i had with choriso sausage instead of bacon and i got two whole sausages (cf to Sisco where i only got tywo halves of pork sausage for $4.50). but i would have done somethng with the sausages. sliced them nor halved them, and/or added some sort of sauce to moisten them
but next time we are in town i think we will definitely head here for breakie

this place specialises in sharing plates and the food is quite wonderful and innovative and complex
as we had only had luch a few hours earlier, we ordered four what are called 'small' plates to share.
they came out one at a time (as we prefer)
scallop, pumpkin and smoked wagyu was excellent (the wagyu was particularly interesting)
shimp (?) with something soimething was likewise great
then swordfish with shredded crab & chilli prawn cracker likewise (the prawn cracker is made w/o flour)
finally the emu, beetroot and Jerusalem artichoke was just great (the beetroot is a raw slice but mandolined very thinly and then folded somehow so it didn't lie flat)
but by this stage particularly although the lights had been turned up by request, it was hard to see the beautifull properly which reduces your smell and taste senses and of coyurse beinbg able to see it properly
the service very good and we particularly liked the fact that the kitchen delivered each plate and explained/described what was on the plate
wine prices were on slightly on high side but a good selection
they had a very interesting sounding special of lamb rack smoked in a jar we didn't try and the panncotta sounded brilliant
the only bubear was as mentioned the lighting!
restaurant & lighting designers who go arty with lighting but fail to realise that the look, taste and smell of food is literally greatly enhanced when the food is well lit
and this applies far more with intricate delicate food like this.
even though staff supposedly turned lights up to full for us, for half our meal we were still eating our food in semi-darkness (we started while it was still light), and half the peasure of sight, smell and taste was lost.
the answer is simple, seeing the cost of replacing whole system would be expensive, replace the bloody bulbs with brighter bulbs!! use new style LED bulbs if poss with high output and low cost and heat. and keep them turned up so people can see and appreciate their lovely and relatively expensive food.

wait staff and kitchen were very helpful w my spouse's increasingly difficult food requirements
entrees of grilled prawns and grilled baby octopus were simple but very good. mussels entree size was a very large serving and again well done. and my dish of shredded duck pappadelle was very tasy but quite a bit of pasta was stuck together and hadn't been separated properly

they also let us BYO wine for a modest $8 p/b.

somewhat noisy with hard surfaces but not unpleasantly so

all in all a much better experience than it looked like at first glance, and take some time reading the menu as there are some good choices you might not notoce at first

this was a quick meal as we were in a hurry on this occasion, but food and service was excellent.

we disagree with their marketing concept of a competition of which could eat very hot food the fastest got free meals

better food than you might thionk (me anyway :-). and very good value.

BYO which is a plus. and no corkage.

you might want to order dishes off menu rather than just what comes aropund on train and that way you will get much more interesting and tasty dishes, eg eel. also there are some larger courses NOT in menu that are pictured on wall

given not on main street and not with street frontage, surprisingly popular so they must be doing something right :-)

Approximate cost: $4
