6 reviews about Sake Restaurant & Bar

We joined our friends at this Japanese restaurant for a birthday celebration and were pleased when we walked in and saw quite a trendy modern restaurant with the best backdrop of the Brisbane river and Story Bridge all lit up. The bar area is quite nice to sit, relax and have a drink although be warned the drink menu is pretty pricey. Our waiter gave us our menus and said the restaurant was a tapas style restaurant which meant we should order all our dishes like we were going to be sharing. I feel he gave us the wrong advice there because the meals are quite tiny and dainty and while they were delicious and beautiful to look at they were not easy to split up and share. As you expect from most restaurants on Eagle Street Pier it's quite expensive but you pay for the pretty food and pretty view.

Tried Sake on a recent girls night out, the meals come out as ready so if you want things in a particular order, stagger your ordering. The dishes are all designed to be shared so you can try lots of different dishes. We tried some salads, the seafood salad was delicious, then wagu beef, sushi, chicken karaage, tofu and tempura prawns. Everything was delicious, can't wait to go back!

I brought my partner to Sake for our anniversary after checking out their menu, and being a fan of Japanese food. It was a really great experience - it's an upmarket restaurant, with amazing service and an extensive and interesting menu.

We had a couple of delicious cocktails to start, and got some edamame, shrimp popcorn and arancini to begin, after which we shared the salmon and the pork belly with daikon.

All of it was amazing, but the pork belly was probably the highlight. The pork was so flavoursome and melted in your mouth, and the broth was incredible.

We had some dessert too - the chocolate cake and the strawberry cheesecake. Both were good, but if I had to pick one it would be the strawberry!

I don't know when we'll be back since it's a special occasion kind of place for me, but I mean if you love Japanese food, you'd be hard pressed to have a bad experience, I'd say. Lots of staff, who are really friendly and attentive, which really makes the experience

Approximate cost: $175

nice table with views of river.
interesting Japanese fusioon menu mixed with traditional sushi & sashimi and others. entrees such as dumplings and shrimp rerasonably priced at $12-$17. main likewise not unreasonable at $28-33.

the wine list was quite a nice list but the prices were just exorbitant ... cheapest wine being $55 and others $145. and i am not talking wines that would normally be that expensive

anyway the service was excellent and very helpful

the edamame was nice but teh beans themselves weren't really good (and we do like them with chilli & garlic noit teh tradituional salt). shrimp p[opcorn was nice. the wagyu dumpling were excellent and teh stuffed gallatine of quail very pretty and good. the braised pork belly with daikon and poached egg also good if not so pretty. and plenty of other interesting dishes to have.

so we might have been tempted to return, but the wines prices just spoiled it. so Sono (@ Portside) remains our firm favourite. And Wagamama for casual ambience and noodles

Approximate cost: $30

This is the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. The food is amazing! I recommend the Miso Barramundi dish, it is the best fish I have ever had with a great sauce. The staff are very helpful and the quality of the food is 5 star. I definitely recommend Sake to people eho like Japanese food.
