Really good food, but far too expensive for my liking. I know its organic, but there our other places like Commune and Govinda's in Burleigh that are better value

Approximate cost: $10

Never noticed this place before as it is somewhat tucked away next to the Office of Fair Trade....I'm sure it used to be called something else, but....anyway, my memory's not so good these days!! They have cold food and other cafe stuff, but I tried their hot food from the hot display and added a salad. I had this spinach pie with this amazing chickpea salad and rice. Really good. I mean really good and so cheap! The servings were not at all stingy, and the pie was hot and crisp. Good job guys. Will be back again next time I have to visit the government!

Approximate cost: $7.95

Hot takeaway isn't the best. They are cheap and it shows. Chips are average at best. Fish is pretty much average. I agree that compared to Charis, they definitely have a better variety of fresh seafood, but I prefer Charis, and honestly, I think my local in Varsity Lakes has better (although less variety) cooked seafood as far as quality goes.

Definitely the place for fresh seafood, but there are better places for cooked fish and chips.

Approximate cost: $7-12

Wow....this Fish and chip shop is so busy on the weekend. Went down with the wife on the weekend, and shared a basic fish and chips pack for $8.50. Good value and quick, although basic service...mind you this is Fish and Chips!

Will go back next time Im in Burleigh!

Approximate cost: $8.50

Just had a couple of drinks after work with a few colleagues.

Honest, decent pub that has a great view over the water. Nice spot for a Friday afternoon pot of beer.

Next time will have a meal.

This review is for Donto Sapporo Japanese Restaurant, Broadbeach QLD

verified email - 12 Jul 2011

Hadn't been to Donto Sapporo for a very long time (10 years ago, back when it was one of the few Japanese restaurants and was very good) and went recently again. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed.
The decor is old and tired, and looks like no money has been spent on the place in the last 10 years. Staff were friendly, but the young lady that served us couldnt recommend us anything on the menu as she couldnt speak any english (which is ok in itself as she got help, but added to the whole disappointment).
The sashimi we ordered was not as fresh as it should have been, and salmon was slightly frozen still. Yakitori was fine but nothing exceptional, as was sushi.

Overall, Donto Sapporo desperately needs a renovation as this isnt the late 90's anymore, and there are plenty of competitors out there that are much better.

Approximate cost: $20-30

Very good. I love Middle Eastern food, and Taboon was affordable and quite authentic. The staff were also very pleasant and informative.

Was walking past the fish the other day and noticed that they have some $5 deals going at the moment, so I thought Id give it ago for lunch. I had the "a" meal, 3 fish bites and snack chips for $5. It was really good value. Not a really big meal, but just enough for a satisfying lunch. Will definitely keep it in mind when after a quick, cheap meal.

Approximate cost: $5

What a great atmosphere, setting and staff! I had a steak sandwich, that was a little too gourmet for me (it had zucchini and eggplant on it), but still tasted good. My colleagues enjoyed their lunches too.

A good place for an informal business meeting.

Look forward to going again

This review is for Sushi Train, Biggera Waters QLD

verified email - 13 Jun 2010

Always packed, no matter what time of day, so that says it all. Yes, the staff are very friendly and there's always lots of variety on the train. Just be careful what colour plates you pick as my wife and I clicked up a $50 lunch! Guess we like the expensive stuff.

Will be back next time we visit harbour town.

Approximate cost: $50
