Never as good as we expect. The food is generally very good, but the service almost always dreadful. Slow, indifferent and poorly trained staff seem to be the norm. For better service try their other branch in New Town.
Surprisingly expensive at both locations.

Occasional drop in for coffee etc. Experience varies depending on who is on duty - some of the staff are wonderful, one or two are indifferent and one particular waiter thinks he's at the Ritz.
Generally child friendly and an excellent babychino (usually).
Iced chocolate in summer is delicious and the European hot chocolate reminds us of home.
Great cakes and pastries.

The best little Japanese restaurant - anywhere. Great food in pleasant surroundings - once you get past the uninspiring alleyway entrance. Staff are delightful, though service a little quirky and irregular at times, but the food is always excellent. And they are child friendly - very!
Now so popular you need to book for dinner, but if you turn up early or at lunchtime there's usually no problem.
We love the agadashi tofu with its gently waving bonito flakes.

Approximate cost: $15
