This review is for Commercial Hotel Cygnet, Cygnet TAS

We went on a family outing down to cygnet and thought we would have lunch at the Commercial Hotel. There are many cute cafes but my kids much prefer the menu with fish and chips on it. It was our second visit to the Commercial. It has a lovely menu which is pretty standard pub scene set menu and then has a specials menu which includes things such as crepes and other delicious choices. The first time I had a Crepe and it was very nice and the second time I had scallops, which were a little over cooked but was a generous serving and I ordered the small serving. The kids meals are great and the fish especially for the kids is as nice as in an adult meal, fresh battered fish. All in all a great little hotel with lovely meals and has a great spot for eating outside on sunny days. Also lining the walls are cabinets of beautiful doll house furniture that you can buy. The displays are so cute and keep my children fascinated and from what I could see reasonably priced. Overall a lovely little pub

This review is for Dr S W Sonneveld, New Town TAS

Dr Stephen Sonneveld was our doctor throughout the IVF process and delivered my two babies. I chose him because he could do both deliver and take us through IVF. I recommend him highly as a great doctor and made the experience with the delivery of my two happy occasions with the birth or two happy and healthy children. It was tough with my second one which had a few antibody issues and caused us some concern through out pregnancy and at birth. Through out the whole experience I felt that everything was explained thoroughly to me and Dr Sonneveld made sure I completely understood what was going on and what the risks were. He monitored me and the baby closely recommending more regular visits and induced labor as soon as he thought it was necessary. His practice was conveniently located in New Town and the rooms comfortable with good toys for the children that come with you. I truly appreciated everything he did for us and recommend him most high

This was the nominated repairer for our LG Smart player which we have had to have repaired twice, but I think that may be a reflection on the quality of the machine not the repairer. However we took in our surround sound system with the smart player recently. They were very quick with the Smart player (which was in warranty)but they had the surround sound system for a very long time, I can't exactly remember how long so I won't speculate but it was quite a long time. The surround sound system was out of warranty and they rang to let us know that they had to order a part and rang a couple of times to let us know that there was a delay. We were told at one point that the part had arrived and would be fixed in the next week but we didn't hear from them and when my husband rang they said the part had not yet arrived. In fairness my husband left his mobile number as the contact number and he was in meetings when they rang. They were polite and apologised for the delay but blamed the part not turning up. I don't think there is a lot of choice in using this business when getting electronic equipment repaired so there is a fair chance we will use them again. I found the location of the business inconvenient as the parking is quite difficult and the premises itself is quite run down and tired looking. The price below if for the repair of the surround sound system

This review is for Adam's Store, West Hobart TAS

This isn't my local store so I don't really use it often for the basic corner store needs but it is one of our favorite family traditions grabbing fish and chips from Adam's store and going over the road to the park to eat them. They are reasonably priced and we have never had a complaint about the quality of the food. The food is always freshly cooked and one of the best old fashion fish and chip shops around town in our opinion.

This review is for Hill Street Grocer, Glebe TAS

Hill Street Grocers is a great place to buy seasonal veggies they are fresh and their displays are very enticing. The have a great deli and are a great place to buy food. I do always buy more than I intend to when I go in especially fruit and veg that is exceptionally priced. They stock local foods and are an outlet for many specialty foods that are not readily available at the supermarkets. I love their Deli and the range of desserts they sell. This is my go to shop when visiting friends, or buying a salad for a BBQ. The normal range grocery items can be quite expensive much the same as any local corner store, but you can buy local milks and yogurts and even muesli (one of the things I always buy there) that you just can't get any where else. My price below is the current cost per kilo of pumpkins, other prices of course vary but they have some great specials.

This review is for Museum of Old & New Art (MONA), Glebe TAS

I can't begin to explain how much I love MONA but I will try. We went to MONA for mothers day and I had the most wonderful day. First we went around the museum and the staff were great at explaining where to avoid with the children (as some displays are too much for the kids) and are always on hand to answer questions. I love the lay out and I love the building and I love the atmosphere. There is something quite sophisticated about walking around with head phones and a touch screen ipod that describes all the art and displays, listening to the artist themselves explain what the exhibitions are about and what they mean to them. A little difficult to listen on the headphones with kids and my ultimate dream is to go on my own to get the full experience. That being said I love what it shows my children and their favorite for sure is the growling couch. There was a wing closed at the moment waiting for the Red Queen exhibition that is a part of Dark MoFo that sounds very exciting.
After viewing the Museum we went out on the lawn where we grabbed a few bean bags and sat back with a glass of wine and listened to some live Jazz music. The weather was crisp but beautifully sunny. One of the greatest things is that apart for the wine the whole experience is free to Tasmanian's. We brought a bottle of Morilla wine for approx $28 and it was very nice. There are many places to eat and the views from the property are stunning. I recommend this place to everybody, my children had a lovely time on the lawn with the bean bags but you do have to be careful with them in the actual Museum as some of the displays are not recommended for under the age of 18 although my 17 year old daughter has been going since 15 years but she is the arty type. I love this place and will be going back many many times.

This review is for Wrest Point Casino, Sandy Bay TAS

For our tenth anniversary my husband and myself decided we would treat ourselves to a night at the casino including accommodation. We had a a wonderful night. Firstly we were upgraded to the 16th floor which was a really lovely room with lovely view. There were plenty of places to take a walk and have pre-dinner drinks. Our meal at Pier One was absolutely lovely. My only criticism was that there was really no where to go and have a dance, the birdcage bar is nice and private but is a bit small to be able to enjoy the live music and a dance.

This is our favorite family restaurant (without a playground), we always have great meals with lovely friendly service. They are always quick (important with young children) and their menu always has our old favorites, which is important for my husband and something new to try for me and the kids fish and chips are great.

I would love to give this restaurant a wow rating we had a great experience the first time but not so great the second time. The first meal was a lovely banquet which was well priced and was all we hoped it would be. I was out to tea with my husband and we had an absolutely lovely meal the first time. We were so impressed that the next time we were ordering take outs we thought we would give it another go. It was sadly very disappointing, we received chicken that wasn't cooked and didn't get a great response from the restaurant when we told them. They offered us more next time we ordered from them, which so far we haven't done.
