This place has the best sausage rolls anywhere. The cakes are also beautiful and everything is always fresh. The staff are all very lovely and helpful. I always plan to stop there for lunch if I'm in the area. Very reasonably priced.
I took my nephew here during the winter school holidays to paint our own pots and we had a ball. It was pouring with rain that day and it was a great indoor activity to keep us busy for a while. He painted a popcorn box and I painted a mug and both were very reasonably priced. It took a couple of weeks before they were ready to pick up and I'm not sure if they post them out if you aren't local. Was one of the most fun things I've spent an afternoon doing.
We only went here for hot chocolate on a Sunday morning but they were amazing. We had a good look over the menu's while we were there and I'm eager to get back and try their breakfasts. The staff were lovely and amazingly helpful. The friend I was with has allergy requirements and when she asked the staff what they could do for her they took her email address for the chef to contact her and discuss it further. They couldn't of been more helpful! Can't wait to go back!
The pottery itself is lovely. Its very expensive but you know you're buying the real thing. Even the section selling seconds was pricey. The staff in the pottery section and art and antiques galleries were all very stuck up. We had lunch at the cafe there and it was very nice, still over priced for the kind of simple food they offered. A great place to visit and I would love to go back and do the tour through the old kilns and have a try at throwing a pot of my own.
We went here for breakfast and the food was great and reasonably priced. Its a great atmosphere and I will definately go again if the opportunity comes up
They do the most amazing beer battered fries. They're still working out some kinks because they just opened so service is still slow but that will get better with time. Its in a beautiful setting.
We stayed here with a group of 12 people including two children. First of all this place is NOT kid friendly. If you do consider staying here consider who you will be staying with and make sure you are very close because there is no privacy. Only three of the bedrooms have ensuites which as a pregnant woman staying in a room without an attached bathroom is awful. Its very modern which is fine if you know how to work things that really aren't obvious how they work. The house itself is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately its in the middle of nowhere and its not in the slightest bit practical.
We stayed here for three nights for my brothers wedding. The restaurant was lovely and you just can't beat an all you can eat buffet breakfast. My husband and I stayed in a standard basic room. Two single beds pushed together to make a king size which doesn't really bother me but it was more noticable than other places I've stayed at. Its changed hands in the past few months and I'm not sure if the place feels a little run down because the old managment left it that way or because the new managment have let it get that way. There was construction going on in rooms adjoining ours which got a bit noisy. But considering someone else paid for us I'm not going to complain. It's too far from Port Douglas to walk into town (unless you're really into walking) but there is shuttle buses that run very regularly if you don't mind paying $4 each way. Very easy access to the beach and there is a very nice pool.
It was a very fun night but if you're going along with the expectation of being scared don't get your hopes up. Its not that expensive and the fee goes towards the town but its a very very long way to go in the middle of the night! The tour group was 31 people the night we went which was about 20 people too many and the amount of people just ruined the ambiance. The tour guide was also very unsuited to it. I would expect a ghost tour guide would be a story teller by nature but this guide was very young and seemed very nervous of his guests and came across like he didn't believe in ghosts.
A massive positive we didn't find until the next day were two very impressive ghost photos.
We were also led to believe that the tour went through the Walhalla cemetery and were very disappointed when it didn't.
Approximate cost: $25 per adult
The staff are wonderful here. I usually go for family birthdays and stuff like that so I'm nearly always in a large group and for things like birthday cakes and stuff they take care of it very well. The seafood platter is usually what I get and so far hasn't disappointed. There is great views through huge glass windows to the golf course, but there is no curtains or anything to soak up the noise of all the other diners so it gets very loud and echoey when there is a full room, and there is always a full room.
