This review is for Albany Fresh Quality Fruits, Albany Creek QLD

verified email - 04 Jan 2013

I have been trying to support small businesses and therefore I do my main shopping at Coles and then visit a greengrocer, butcher etc for the other items. When at Albany Creek I use Albany Fresh Quality Fruits (opposite Suncorp). Their mangoes and blueberries are always much cheaper and better quality than than Coles and everything else is always well presented and fresh. They also stock some harder to get items like the Burumbah organics yoghurts, some cheeses and a very yummy rice custard. The watermelon I bought there last week was superb. It may take a little extra effort to visit more than one shop but it's worth it. Please support the little guys!

This review is for Brendale Building Supplies (Home Hardware), Brendale QLD

We all know that these little hardware stores can' match the range of the big players like Bunnings but what they lack in range they make up for in service. No fighting to find a park and then standing around for ages waiting to find someone that can help you. You park right outside the door and once inside you are greeted by a friendly person that can help you if need be. Don't get me wrong, this is not some tiny weeny hardware store, it is still quite large and as the name suggests a large part of their business is building supplies so next time you need a hardware store, try supporting a small local business instead of letting Bunnings and Masters have the monopoly.

We have been visiting Pine Rivers Hardware for all out pool needs for many years now. I really feel it is important to support our local small businesses and these guys are friendly and have great service that you just don't get at the big hardware stores. They are also conveniently located with easy parking right outside the door. Remember that they are a pool shop as well as a hardware store.

This review is for Ali Baba, Phillip ACT

One of the things I miss about living in Canberra is Ali Baba restaurants. They have one hear in QLD about 40 mins from us but the food just isn't the same as in Canberra. You just can't beat an Ali Baba kebab and everytime we visit Canberra we pop into the Phillip store for lunch if we can. The people are friendly and the food is great.

This review is for IGA Lyons, Lyons ACT

I don't normally liek to give bad reviews unless the place is really bad but this place is really bad. I suspect they are in the process of closing down but some of what they are selling doesn't look fit for human consumption. We were visiting from interstate and went to pop in for a few bits and pieces but ended up grabbing a drink and a can of fly spray (the fly spray alone cost me over $10) and got out of there quick smart. The fruit and veg was sparce and poor quality, the oils were all cloudy looking in the bottles and many of the shelves were empty. This store gives IGA a bad name.

This review is for Today's Dentistry , Chermside QLD

My daughter and I have been going to Today's Dentistry ever since Dr Daryl Marsh kindly squeezed me in to look at my tooth that had cracked and got infected about 10 years ago. I was in so much pain and he was so kind and caring. He even gave me his home number in case I had any further problems. Since then, my daughter and I visit every 6 months for our check ups. We have both had braces(for this we were referred to Dr Chin Yap, also very good), fillings and various other things done over the years and I have never been able to fault them. The staff are friendly, you are never in pain, the surgeries are modern and always being updated, they have a kids play area, new magazines, coffee machine, water machine and toilets with teeth cleaning facilities. They are not cheap but pretty average and anyway I believe you get what you pay for.

This review is for Ashley Printers, Clontarf QLD

I have used these printers twice now and both times I have been very impressed. Their prices are competitive and they are fast. This time around I simply rang, they had my details on computer, I told them I wanted the same again and within about 2 days I had my business cards.

This review is for Australia Post, Brendale QLD

verified email - 04 Jan 2013

This little outlet inside the IGA is the best, most friendly post office you can ever visit. I find the big branches so impersonal and often unfriendly but here they know your name and go out of their way to do everything possible for you. I run a local business in Brendale that also sells online so I am there nearly everyday. If you are tired of being treated like a number then you need to start visiting the post office at IGA Brendale. The bonus is that because it's inside the supermarket you can grab your lotto and any other bits and pieces at the same time as doing your post. Plus they are open 8.30am till 5.30pm which suits us small businesses as we can pop in before and after work. They are alos open half days on Saturday which can often be a life saver.

This review is for Aussie Seafood House, Lawnton QLD

verified email - 04 Jan 2013

I have been visiting Aussie Seafood House since they opened a few years back. I was so excited when they opened because other than buying seafood from Coles and Woolies we would have to travel 40 mins to Morgans which I find to be very expensive and very busy. Aussie Seafood House has a better range of fresh fish than Morgan's plus they have several freezers full of frozen and crumbed items. They also have specialty items like duck, white bait, and some things I have never even heard of before. They also have lots of different sauce and spices and they always have different fish cooked with the different spices available for tasting. I have always found the fish to be fresh. I would highly recommend them. Their prices are what you would expect to pay but for me, I will always buy fish on qulaity, not price.

This review is for CR Northside, Aspley QLD

verified email - 01 Nov 2012

I have used CR Northside for 12 years now and I can truly say they are the best. I never look to closely at price because for me it is more inmportant that when I need a new computer I can ring them and they know what I need. They out it all together and transfer all my data from my previous computer to the new computer and once I am given the new computer I know its a matter of turning it on and everything will work. I run a small business in Brendale and I someties have the problem of being stuck by myself in the shop and something goes wrong with the computer or the internet. I know I can call David and he will either log in to my computer and fix it remotely or he will drive out the store and fix it there if possible. While David's prices are reasonable I would strongly suggest that when buing a computer it is more about service and reliability. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.
