Oze-Pharmacy seems to have the best prices in a pharmacy for over-the-counter medicines. They have a large range, and also a great baby section with a nurse on Thursday to give help and advice.
I love Jamaica Blue's great rewards system of giving credit for food eaten as well as coffees purchased. The coffee is good and the low fat lemon yoghurt cake is worth having over and over again.
Approximate cost: $10
This is a lovely cafe set in a garden centre. The coffee is good, and the cakes look fantastic. I had a Mars Bar cheesecake, which did not disappoint, but for $7 it is a bit expensive. Most of the cakes are around that price. There is a play area for young children, so good to go for a slow coffee.
This a small but very friendly outdoor and camping shop. The service is great and they offer very friendly advice too. It is nice to go to a shop where it is not difficult to find someone to help you out and show you where things are. They offer discounts for certain cards too. (eg. NPA)
The coffee is great here, but the main drawcard is the fantastic cake selection. They have plenty of options in regular adult size, or mini children's size. They also have ready made meals in the freezer for sale. If you dine in for coffee and cake with small children, they will enjoy the kids table in the corner with plenty of toys and Duplo.
HIT offers great coffee and good value meals. They also have a coffee cart for take aways at the entrance to the centre. There is plenty of space, and lovely warm heaters in winter.
Approximate cost: $10
This cafe does good coffee, and offers table service which is always nice. We did not actually eat here, but the meals going to other tables were large and looked good value. The tables are fixed to the ground, and can be a bit cramped, as it is always popular and busy.
The coffee is very nice at this cafe, and the location in the shopping centre is good. The chairs are very comfortable too. The cakes are expensive, but they seem to be the same price as many other cafes in the same centre.
I was lucky enough to be taken to this taken for a special occasion, arriving by ferry. The restaurant knows exactly what time the ferry arrives, and they are waiting for you. They also know what time the ferry will pick you up, so they make sure you eat your meal in the correct time, without ever feeling rushed. It was a wonderful experience, with great food and great service.
Tiens bakes my favourite bread rolls (the soft rolls, like snails), and they are also the cheapest I know of. If you can get them when they are hot out of the oven they are great, just plain and crispy. Yum.
