This is one of Rosebud's undiscovered jewels. I know video shops are a dying breed and I hope this one won't suffer the same fate.

Owner Steve is a friendly guy who loves to chat about movies and if you become a regular he'll remember your name, I like that.

There is a great collection of movies for everyone, an internet cafe and XBox, Wii and Playstation games for hire.

Quite often there is a box of free movie posters on the floor by the counter, my kids love to rifle through it.

You can hire 5 weeklies for $5 while new releases go for around $5/night (maybe a bit more on the weekend).

Steve supports the local community by allowing people to put up advertising posters on the shop's door and windows, so if you're a local show him your support by giving him your business.

Approximate cost: $5

We've been to Top Fun a few times as a family and it's cost us a fair bit each time because we do everything on offer when we're there: both courses of mini-golf (36 holes in total), one game of bowling and we play on the arcade games. All up we spend close to $150 for two adults and two kids. We spend over $50 on the arcade games so if you don't play those it'll cost much less. The arcade games also issue tokens that you can redeem for prizes.

The staff are pretty friendly and patient too which is important when you visit with kids.

The golf courses are pretty cool, one is fully undercover, the other is covered by shade sail.

If you have little ones that want to bowl, there are gutter ramps that can be raised for them.

You could spend quite a few hours at this place and not get bored. I definitely recommend it.

This review is for Safeway, Rosebud VIC

I shop at this Safeway every week and I've never had a reason to complain.

The staff are helpful and knowledgeable about the store and always serve me with a smile.

The store is always clean and open long hours every day. They have some great specials most of the time. The deli meat is fresh but I can't say the same for their fruit and vegetables which are often not fresh.

When it comes to refunds and exchanges I've never had a problem getting either, as long as I have a receipt.

This is the friendliest Safeway store I've come across.

I must say that I expected more from this restaurant because the name has such a good reputation.

My first complaint is that the tables were old and sticky, I don't know how they clean them or what they're made of, but we moved three times and all the tables we tried were sticky.

Second complaint is that the drinking glasses were dirty, the waitress said that they had been cleaned but that over time in the dishwasher they lost their shine. I would expect a restaurant that charges as much for a meal as they do to be able to replace their glasses when they got old (and their tables for that matter).

Then, our order took over half an hour to arrive and when it did, they had cooked something different (spaghetti bolognese) than what I ordered (Fettucine Carbonara). They did apologise and offered to cook what I wanted but by that stage I was so hungry that I just ate what they had served but again I was disappointed because the food was bland and the sauce was runny. My partner said his meal was fine but my daughter didn't like hers too much (Lasagna), she said it wasn't very tasty.

Approximate cost: $18.00

This review is for Kmart Tyre & Auto Service, Rosebud VIC

I have taken my car there for services and other minor repairs and each time they end up finding hundreds of dollars worth of things that need to be fixed. Because I know nothing about cars I have no way of knowing if they're trying to get more money out of me because I'm a woman and they know I'm clueless about cars.

Last time I went there for a minor service they ended up doing a major service which cost me about $100 more! When I tried to argue that I shouldn't have to pay the extra because it was their mistake they said that because they did the work I still had to pay.

Then he told me I needed new brakes, front and back, as well as break discs and that I needed them now because they were badly worn. Not knowing any better, I agreed to let them put new brakes on because he said he could do it right away. I wish I had known better because my father later told me it would have been highly unlikely that the breaks and the discs needed changing since I'd only had them both done less than 10,000kms prior. So yes, I felt ripped off and taken advantage of because I'm a woman.

They overcharged me every single time, $10 for a bulb for my brake light that cost me less than $4 at the Toyota dealership! They also removed the timing belt sticker from my engine bay and tried to tell me that my timing belt needed changing thinking I wouldn't know what the sticker in my car's engine bay had been for. I had just bought the car, used, and the timing belt had been changed only 10,000kms ago.

While the quality of workmanship there has always been good, I also no longer trust what they tell me and I will not go back to Kmart Auto ever again. Do yourself a favour and avoid them like the plague, you'll save yourself a load of money.

I have used this service quite a few times now and I've never been dissapointed.

The buses run on time, every time and the drivers are always friendly and courteous.

Prices are very reasonable and buses run frequently. I won't hesitate to use the FAPAS bus again and again.

This place is amazing! They have everything you need to deck out your house for Christmas but best of all they sell REAL CHRISTMAS TREES!

Some items are a bit pricey but overall prices are quite reasonable... you have to remember that they sell quality items, not just your average $2 shop wares.

There is also a lovely coffee shop and relaxing outdoor sitting area.

The staff are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about their products.

This is the only place I go to when shopping for PC or console games for my kids.
The staff is highly knowledgeable and if they don't know the answer to your question they usually try very hard to find out for you.

They have a big range of games, used and new, for the three main gaming consoles but only new games for PCs.

For the consoles, you have two weeks to return used games and one week to return new games if you don't like them and they'll give you a full refund if your discs are undamaged. We've never had a problem there. They don't do this for PC games though.

The store is always brightly lit and clean and a pleasure to shop in because the staff don't harass you.

They regularly have sales and promotions, so you're always sure to get a bargain.

You can also trade old games and consoles for in-store credit which has come in handy for us a few times.

I definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for video games and/or consoles.

This review is for Avis Car Rental, Mascot NSW

verified email - 20 Oct 2012

I have travelled domestically and internationally a few times and each time I've needed to hire a car I've used Avis because overall I've been pretty happy with their service and packages.

I also like that they give discounts to customers of certain airlines.

The only reason I am faulting them and not giving them 5 stars is that they once tried to rent me out an unregistered car. Fortunately for me I noticed the out of date rego sticker as I was driving out of their lot and after a bit of insistance on my part they gave me another car (after trying to tell me that it would be ok for me drive an unregistered car and that I would not be in trouble with the police if they caught me driving one. I didn't want to take my chances finding out).

I am editing this review to add the following:
Their cars are always very clean and well maintained.

I'm in two minds about this one because my experiences there have always varied.

It is definitely the busiest eatery in Rosebud Plaza and has lots of regulars so there must be something there that keeps them coming back. It can only be the friendly and attentive wait staff and the decent coffee and cakes, because the staff behind the counter aren't the friendliest mob, they seldom smile or make small talk and the hot food is expensive and its quality varies from day to day.

I do have to give them a thumbs-up for their cheap take away hot chips though. A small bucket of chips will only cost you a couple of bucks but it's a decent size serving for a 'small'.

So for coffee, cake and take-away hot chips this place is a safe option, but I wouldn't recommend any food from the hot menu unless you're in a 'I'll take my chances' kind of mood.
