Great business that provides hire car to those that need it. Would be better if they had more range.

Avis is just incredible, they have a array of various cars of all models and sizes. the prices per day are very cheap. great deals every month

I have heard many ups and downs by Avis by friends. I decided to give them a go as they were close by. Simple process to hire a car at a reasonable price.

Happy with the service Sydney Airport office provided when we we in Sydney recently. They upgraded our car, which is always a nice bonus. Staff were polite and waiting time was minimal, even though it's a busy office.

We book through Avis all the time. They provide a good hire service. Cars are always spotlessly clean and in good mechanical repair. We also rented a truck to move from Brisbane and it was almost new.

Only issue I have is that if you rent from a country town, your km are SO limited and the cost per km can add up. If you rent from the city it's unlimited... rent from Bendigo and you only get 100km a day.

I rented many times from AVIS at South Melbourne at Moray Street. Location is good and near to my office, I just need to walk up and get the rented car. Service was great.
Price was good and best of all I get to collect Frequent Flyer Points. I usually drop the car at the airport for travel.

Try to book via Vroom Vroom website where cancellation is free and u just need to use your credit card for the booking.
Price is usually good for small/compact cars. It works out cheaper to rent a car to the airport rather than taking a cab.

Have booked from their clayton office, i was lending my car for a week so i needed one to drive around. They mucked up the dates, then wern't sure if they could help me after going down there wondering where my car is... I got one, not what i wanted, more expensive, and for their mistake. I wont be using them agian

I hired a car last Friday night and as I hadn't had the chance to go to the bank didn't have enough on my Visa Debit card to pay for 2 days hire. So I paid for 1 night and said that I would go to the bank the next day to put the rest of the money in my account to pay for the 2nd day.

Unfortunately my bank was not open on the Saturday so I couldn't deposit the money. I called to ask if I could pay cash and was told that I couldn't. I called my girlfriend to get her credit card details and called them back. They couldn't use that as they needed to have her sign for it as it wasn't in my name.

In the end I had to get my girlfriend to drive half an hour to the nearest AVIS depot before 1:00pm on a Sunday to sign an authority form and then they tried to take the 2 days hire out of her account ... I had already paid the first days hire.

At no stage did I feel like the staff wanted to help me. I have used a lot of car hire companies in the past but I will definitely NOT be using AVIS ever, ever again.

We hired a truck through Avis in Hindmarsh.
Now, we had an accident in the truck and I don't want you thinking I'm just being sour grapes. But holy heck! This was a nightmare to sort out and the extra hidden costs were frustrating - we were told the excess would be $1000 exactly, but not told that there were 'processing fees' and GST added, so it ended up costing nearly $1200.

I think a little more transparency and clarity around such an important issue would have helped. My advice to anyone hiring a car or truck: ask all the questions, look for a place that has the lowest total excess, not JUST the cheapest hiring rate, and know your rights.

The manager was a very friendly chap and I'm glad to say he was pretty kind and personable.

But transparency and honesty are good business policies and I think AVIS wasn't clear enough on those points!!!

I have travelled domestically and internationally a few times and each time I've needed to hire a car I've used Avis because overall I've been pretty happy with their service and packages.

I also like that they give discounts to customers of certain airlines.

The only reason I am faulting them and not giving them 5 stars is that they once tried to rent me out an unregistered car. Fortunately for me I noticed the out of date rego sticker as I was driving out of their lot and after a bit of insistance on my part they gave me another car (after trying to tell me that it would be ok for me drive an unregistered car and that I would not be in trouble with the police if they caught me driving one. I didn't want to take my chances finding out).

Their cars are always very clean and well maintained.

Good service, very clean and well maintained cars. The price is reasonable and they will offer options to go with your budget. Highly recommended.

I used avis at Adelaide airport picked the car up straight after getting off the plane and returned it a week later to the airport ready to board the plane home the car was great had a few minor nicks and bumps here and there which weren't written down as they were classed as wear and tear but I asked them to note them down anyway just incase cause it was cheap to hire the car but in the event of damage the excess is $3000 so I didn't want them thinking I made those damages to the car the lady at the counter wasn't in the best mood but the lady upon my return was lovely I did quite a few kms but you get unlimited kms with Avis I was early to pick up the car and a little late to drop it off but didn't get charged any extra

I use hire cars a lot for work & personal use. I have used AVIS in Bathurst & Orange & I am really pleased with their service. On two occasions I had to leave asap for a sick family member, one time on a weekend. Both time the AVIS staff were so helpful in organising a car with virtually no notice. I didn't know when I'd be back & I was pretty upset at the time.

I think cars are pretty much the same between companies but customer service isn't. After those experiences I only use AVIS and can really recommend both the Bathurst & Orange staff for their excellent service

They Clayton office in Victoria is always ready to help and go out of their way. Customer service is amazing from this office, will always go back

i have had an amazing experience with these guys, i hired a commodore for a wedding and managed to get the best price and returned the car a little late and wasnt charged an overdue fee, these guys rock

Because of competition, I find that car rental companies are pretty much the same. Avis offered us the car we wanted on the dates we were arriving in the NT.

Hired an Avis vehicle last week. Booking was accurately recorded with vehicle and documentation being ready when I got off my plane. Vehicle was very clean and in excellent condition.

From obtaining a quote right through to returning the vehicle, using these guys made our moving experience a breeze! We would use again without hesitation.

Were very good when needed a replacement vehicle for our business. Prices were pretty much on par with other hire businesses. Service was good and friendly.

Really good large range of cars to choose from and they're all clean and tidy. The rates for hire and the available cars from your local depot are on-line and you can choose what time to pick it up etc. Staff are really friendly and they do everything quickly and understand you have somewhere to be.

The last time we hied a vehicle from avis we were surprised at how fast the counter service was the car was spotless and we were really happy with the fuel economy

I landed in Sydney for work and discovered that I should have arranged a hire car prior to my arrival.

Luckily the friendly staff at AVIS were more than happy to help me and get me on the road.

Within 15 minutes all paper work had been completed and I was on the road.

Prices weren't too high considering I did not have a booking and no other history at avis.

Car was spotless. I couldnt ahve asked for anything more... except maybe a free upgrade.

Great deals if you book through the web

I have hired cars from Avis in both the US and Europe and they offer really good deals if you book through the web. I haven't had any problems with the cars that I have hired. Their insurance excess isn't too bad either, but I usually only take the minimum option becasue my travel insurance covers the rest at no extra charge. So far it's worked fine for me.
