This review is for Barely There, Thurgoona NSW

verified email - 10 Feb 2012

Jan is really lovely and I'm glad I tried her out - she runs Barely There from a room in her home, and her prices are amazing compared to the fancier salons in town ($50 for a very generous half leg and Brazilian). She did a brilliant job, and was friendly - I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a new waxer.

This review is for Q Food, Albury NSW

Q Food is a mainstay in Albury's cafe scene - it's not the hippest cafe but it does yummy food well and I am rarely disappointed when I come here. Yesterday, I had the pork belly salad which was yummy and a chai latte - admittedly not the greatets chai I've ever had, but brewed properly with real spices, nonetheless. Great service and great location in the main shopping drag, I nearly always end up there in Albury.

This review is for Love Pho, Richmond VIC

verified email - 02 Feb 2012

Love Pho is in a great location on the corner of Church and Swan in Richmond - was very impressed, it's food was genuinely Vietnamese, unlike a couple of other Vietnamese restaurants I've been too where it just seems more like a fusion of Chinese and Thai.

Shop is modern and nice looking, service was a bit all over the shop but our meals came quickly. Very affordable and my beef pho was incredible, only $10 and I couldn't even finish it. It was a great first time Pho experience. Has BYO wine which always helps!

This review is for Rowena Parade Corner Store, Richmond VIC

Very kitsch little cafe on a quiet street in Richmond, just off Hoddle. Fantastic decor and environment, service was fine, not amazing but by all means satisfactory. Menu didn't seem particuarly extensive, but my mushroom and fetta omelette was basic and yummy. Excellent coffee

This review is for Torch Cafe, Richmond VIC

verified email - 02 Feb 2012

I was lucky enough to be living just up the road from Torch for the second half of January, and I think I went there on 3 separate occasions! They make an incredibly brewed chai, complete with creamy milk and a glass drizzled with honey - best chai I've ever had. Food is affordable and yummy, the cream cheese blintzes are devine, but very filling. Love the decor, quick and friendly service, and love the location - no complaints.

This review is for Dukes Coffee, Windsor VIC

verified email - 02 Feb 2012

Dukes is a great cafe on Chapel St - the chai latte I had there (made with proper chai tea and brewed milk, rather than that super sweet powder - ick) was one of the best I've tasted, and my breaky of lemon ricotta, spinach and smoked salmon on rye was cheap and delicious. A tiny bit bland, but that is the nature of ricotta and I always seem to forget this. Service was prompt and friendly, would definitely return.

This review is for Tutto Premium Frozen Yogurt & Dessert, Carlton VIC

verified email - 24 Jan 2012

Tutto is quite new, but it is a welcome addition to the frozen yoghurt industry. They only had three flavours; french vanilla, mandarine, and ginger and lemon - the last of which was absolutely divine. They make and sell trans fat free cup cakes, and have around 12 different options you can have on your yoghurt, all of which are homemade and fresh eg brownie, raspberry coulis, chopped up fruit, crumble etc. It is a little pricey, but considering everything is fresh and homemade, plus the people who served us were adorable and could not be nicer, I think it was worth every cent. It feels nice to support local business.

This review is for Grandma Funks, Richmond VIC

Pretty disappointed with this business, especially as it head been sounds for so long. We came here with a large group of people, the place was empty so we had no problems getting table s and they'd set it all up for us. food came out quickly considering volume of meals, but many of the meals were not very nice. Bland pizzas, stale and untoasted foccacias, and tiny, semi burnt parmas. My gnocci was yummy but the serving was way too large, I needed about a third of it. Have had a lissy pizza experience here before, would not return.

This review is for Bangkok Rain, Carlton VIC

verified email - 16 Jan 2012

We ate in here, it's quite cheap and the food is nice, if not pretty average. It wouldn't have really mattered except, we were the only people in the restaurant and we still had to wait a good 20-25 min for or food. Plus the owner and his family (?) were having dinner too, in the restaurant, so it seemed a bit rude to have uys waiting so long for food.

This review is for San Kai Modern Japanese Restaurant, South Brisbane QLD

verified email - 20 Dec 2011

San Kai has a great atmosphere and an incredibly convenient location in Southbank - it's not really the kind of Japanese food I was expecting, it's more like fusion Japanese, which is probably indicated by the 'Modern' in the restaurant name. Our waitress gave me a lemonade instead of a coke, and only brought us out one miso soup, but these were only minor issues, and it was pretty quiet so we didn't have any problems with service.

Our food was yummy but not amazing, which was a bit disappointing considering that it wasn't particularly cheap. Would try elsewhere before I went back.
