I love this place! Firstly, 99% of the time the service is fantastic. If they're not busy, they'll go out of their way to bring your coffee over to your table which is not their standard practice (they use buzzers) but it's a nice thought when they have the time. I do find that getting your food first (upon ordering) and then having to wait for your hot drink can sometimes conflict if they are busy as by the time your drink is ready, you've already eaten your food. But most of the time they are quick with the drinks so you don't wait too long.

The food is always consistent and fresh. If you haven't been before I can recommend the Date Scone, Cheesy Cauliflower Pie, Snickerdoodles (an absolute must) and the fruit toast is also lovely. If you're on the run they have takeaway rolls and wraps which are full of filling and fresh.

The coffee is nice however on the odd occasion it has been made a little strong but it depends on who you get 9/10 times it's great. If you like hot chocolate but not too rich, ask for half strength.

As far as value goes, it's fabulous. Short from going to a cafe fine dining style, you'll certainly get yourself a lovely breakfast or lunch for a fraction of the price.

The Beechworth Bakery at Ballarat is a favourite with us and visitors alike. Great range of bakery items, always fresh, though the sizes are a little inconsistent. My wife enjoys the date scones but it can be hit and miss on the sizes as they are hand made.

The decor is a little dated and the wooden table and chairs need a lift but after all, it's only a bakery. The prices are a tad high (pie $4.50, toasted bacon\cheese sandwich $5.70) but the quality is very good which makes up for this. The Ned Kelly pie is my favourite.

The coffee is good though occasionally we get a very strong coffee for some reason; possibly a learner barista perhaps? Parking is good with metered parking out the front or a small carpark out the back shared with other businesses (during weekends it's for the bakery mainly).

One comment I will make is that during busy times you will normally get your food well before your coffee is ready. If your someone who like to have their coffee with their food this could disappoint. Another small point is that if you're expecting to get a loaf a bread (after all it is a bakery!) you'll be disappointed as they don't do bread. Coffee loyalty card requires 9 coffees before you get your 10th free.

Can get busy on the weekends with bus loads and tourists alike so plan to get there a little earlier than usual.

I have been going to the Beechworth bakery in Beechworth for over 15years since my sister moved upthere. I then tried the Bendigo location just two years ago ... and I had the same expectations for the one here in Ballarat.
Well, what an absolute disappointment !!!!!!! Such a beautiful building & the decore is so plain & the set up of the tables are terrible.
I have dined in the Ballarat one on about six occasions hoping that everytime it would be better then the last BUT NO so many tables I see are filthy with dirty plates, food scraps, etc... And the bakery is so quiet on some week days way before lunch everytime I have been there.
So, if we want to go to a Beechworth Bakery we drive from Ballarat to go to the Bendigo one. Always beautifully clean & the toilets are too.
And the baby changing room is lovely : )
I must admit the prices$$ have gotten a little insane in recent times.
The price of the small beesting is ridiculous now !!!
And I think it's about time some new items were added to the menu !!!!!!!

Beechworth Bakery looks nice on the inside with bright cake displays but I personally feel the food is somewhat overpriced for what you get. I've had hot food, cakes and a roll. The roll for $4.20 was only bread, cheese, tomato, lettuce and carrot! Staff are friendly and competant but I don't think this bakery is anything to rave about.

Had heard all the (self?) promotion on radio & t.v. and though I should check-it-out.
The range & quality of product is very "ordinary", however, the coffee (cappuccino) was good.
The decor is very plain, given that it is housed in a heritage building, and they must have spent a fortune on the conversion.
Service, on the day I attended (Sat, a.m.), was slow and you had to place your order and take a pager to your table & wait for a call then go & retrieve your order. The experience did not match the expectation.

Approximate cost: $9.00
