I have had both good and one bad experience at Bundoora. In the good times they have treated my animals and taken good care to get them back to health but two weeks ago after my cat had recently been there for a urinary block, I called because I was concerned about his recovery and he was very listless and limp. The first person I spoke to on the phone before bringing him in was lovely and told me to come straight away, once I arrive it was a different story. I had to reexplain what was going on to a completely different person who immediately turned me away. She informed there was no overnight vet and to not even waste my time. Didn’t give me a referral to a different vet, wouldn’t even tell someone that my cat who had only been in four days earlier was back and sicker. Told me not to waste my money getting him seen. It was extremely distressing and upsetting. The way I was spoken to was rude and honestly they sounded like they wouldn’t have cared if he had died right then and there. I was lucky to have a vet come out to talk to another patient there and I tearfully explained the situation and asked if he knew where I could take him because the person said they wouldn’t see him and he was really sick. He immediately took my cat in and he was blocked again. The treatment I got from then on was great and while I had to move him later to another emergency vet, they referred me and he got the treatment he needed. Unfortunately we had to let him go the next day but I was able to be there and say goodbye to him.

Having read the other reviews, I have had a different experience at this vet clinic. First of all, it is not a salubrious environment and has security in place after hours. However, if you can overlook this and take into account that it's open 24 hours, and it's reasonable to assume no one has their best customer service face on at 3am, I think it's a good vet clinic. Yes, out of hours visits are expensive but staff have to get paid to work at 3am. If anything I would say the vets I have seen there are conservative in billing and don't push for additional tests during consultation. I personally had to request optional lab tests when attending out-of-hours and was willing to pay for them. In one case this was a good thing (identified renal failure). I agree the visiting hours are restrictive and I too had issues with bringing in my pet's blanket, but the staff were kind when my pet died, organised cremation for me and sent me a very nice card afterwards, which meant a lot to me. Probably the worst I can say is the cage room isn't an environment that I think is conducive to a pet recovering but I think almost all vet clinics fail in this area.

[Redacted personal identifier] Staff can't even handle being under so called pressure of three walk ins. I mentioned I was happy to wait as I just needed antibacterial ointment and some treats as my poodle was attacked. And I ain't paying $160 for a Vet to tell me something I already know. That money can go towards her ointment that I purely was there for so no Infection would occur in future. As Rose kept apologising about how busy she was as I waited. She did not care to sell me anything.
The website meantions..."We will however never compromise on our high standards of compassion and patient welfare." "Patients are triaged and emergency patients will be given priority." "Above all we show owners compassion and care."

Staff are rude and unprofessional. They didn't talk to me about what they planned to do with my pet and gave me no choice in what was going to occur. Shocking!! I'm never going here again

New to the area a Sunday morning emergency let me to Bundoora Vet. Whilst on a sunday its a first in first service basis, I didn't have to wait more than 30 minutes. The Dr who saw my dog was friendly and helpful. She sorted the issue out and provided me with medication and also showed me how to administer it. The cost for a sunday plus meds was only $140 which I thought was terrific..I was worried it would be so much more. Highly recommended!!

One of my cats had a lump on it's neck, so I rang first, to enquire about the cost. Very detailed information given over the phone, on if the lump was a cyst, what procedure and cost would likely be, or if worse, again what the procedures were and likely costs. I then took kitty, into a very busy surgery! Vet nurse alone at counter, dealt with each of us quickly and professionally. The vet my kitty saw was very good. Thorough examination of kitty, kind and caring and detailed, simply explained, information provided. Overall, I was very satisfied with their professionalism and care. Sunday rates a bit more, but actually less than visiting a Human GP on a Sunday. Highly recommend these vets. Only surgery open 24 hours, for emergencies, in this area, too.

We took our cat here in the middle of the night, not having a firm diagnosis for her but having been advised to get her checked out. She was OK, walking around, exploring the exam room while we talked to the vet.
He seemed more interested in the money than the cat.
We went with the exploratory procedures, which included lots of tests and surgery. Within 3 days she was dead and it was a miserable death, in pain, hooked up to drips etc.
I have to say that the nurses were lovely, and we were allowed to visit any time to see the cat and pat her in her cage.
But if I had my time again, I would just put her down. She was fairly old and had had a good life. Her quality of life at the end was shocking, and I would rather she had died peacefully whilst she had some dignity.

Open until late. I'm always dropping off stray cats that I seem to find & they take care of them & forward them on to places like lort smith. Have taken my animals on many occasions and they are treated in a happy environment and always get a treat before they leave

We had to bring our dog in for an emergency at 3am and the staff were lovely and very helpful. Although it was double the cost of a normal vet our problem was solved and our loved pet was ok.

Approximate cost: $120+
