I love the quality and love that is put behind all the dishes! The café itself is super cute and cosy and I always enjoy every visit to this beautiful place.
This is a lovely cosey cafe with a certain ambience and a chocoholics heaven! When I worked in town i'd visit here (far too) often for a sweet or savoury and a large indulgent Mocha. I'd sit upstairs, next to the window, and unwind to gentle sounds of jazz. After my sugar load i'd buzz blissfully through the rest of my work day.
Anything chocolate is divine although the savories are nothing special and the staff are as expected but worth a visit if you're a chocoholic.
ncie dessert place to chill and relax!
Such a pity, this place is now closed! :-(
really loved this place. my hot chocolate was really nice but not something i would go out of my way for. the desserts were really yummy though and pretty well priced.
I use to love coming here on a cold winters night to enjoy a hot chocolate. Unfortunately my last experience wasn't the greatest. The staff seemed uninterested in being there and the food seemed stale. Will go back soon to look for improvement!
A nice looking place; more elegant than casual atmosphere and good service. The coffee we had was average, so were the desserts. The menu, including the desserts seemed to be the same as it was two years ago. It was OK but nothing special then, its the same now. I 'll be looking for a more original place next time I'm in Adelaide.
Approximate cost: $5.00
I have tried hot chocolates and iced chocolates all over Adelaide and this is my favourite place for both by far! It is truly the best i've ever tasted. When I worked in the city I used to walk to the Chocolate Bean almost daily. Now, I live too far away to go regularly. The quality of the food/drinks are excellent. The service is excellent - always friendly. The only downside is that the lower level has only a few tables so can get very busy and isn't very disability accessible. Overall, I highly recommend this cafe for chocolate lovers everywhere. I'm drooling just writing about this place! I wish they'd open one near me!
You have talked me into it. I will have to go. Thanks for sharing.....
I like this place because its in the middle of the city. The atmosphere is nice and romantic with upstairs seating too, and dimly lit as well. However last time I went there I was extremely unimpressed by the waiting time that it took for my slice of choclate mud cake to be served. The cake was already prepared in the desserts fridge all they had to do was to chop a slice and put it on a plate. This amazingly took at least 35 minutes to do. Also, my friend ordered the chocolate croissant which was not impressive either - it was just an ordinary croissant with choclate topping swirled on top of it.. And all that costed $11 !! Way over priced. Don't think I'll be coming here again
Approximate cost: $15
This shop opens long hours. Not to mention they use to have chocolate spaghetti, not sure they still have them now or not. Other than that, I love their wide variety of chocolate drinks and lovely desserts however I wish they would change their menu once in a while. It is quite cosy little place however you'll need to wait awhile for seats during the weekends. They open until late.
Approximate cost: $depends
Sounds like a great spot!
I love coming here but it's always packed
To me, the chocolate in chocolate bean is smooth and rich in flavour. furthermore, their cakes and pastry are worth trying too. I tried the baklava, it tasted nice but I wish that the portion is bigger. The environment is nice and cosy. suitable for people who wants to have a discussion or chit chat
A friend took me here for dessert as it is her favourite chocolate spot. They have a divine range of desserts and drinks. I had some truffles and my friend some cake and both were delish. We also had a chocolate mojito, which neither of us liked, but I put that down to taste rather than quality.
My first visit and wow what a culinary delight of chocolate everywhere. It was hard to find something to settle on. We shared two different deserts and loved the. Both. Very busy though and hard to find a seat
If you're in love with chocolate then this is the place to go! The cakes and desserts are absolutely yummy. I can imagine myself getting fat if I go here too often! The prices aren't too bad either.
The service here is great; friendly, smiling staff always ready to help. The cafe itself is cute too, and I love the second floor. I always come here for a gossip or a catch up.
I can't recommend anything to try because it's ALL amazing. The cakes, the chocolate, the flavoured hot chocolates which are rich and heady.
If you haven't been here before, I urge you to visit, and if you're from out of town wondering where the atmosphere is, this little cafe can provide some!
If you want to find a place to hang out with friends, this would be one of the good places to go. They provides beautiful chocolate drink and cake. I particularly love their ice chocolate with orange flavour.
Excellent place to socialise with friends in the city. Lovely service and the staff are enthusiastic and seem very happy. Lovely cafe and would go again.
Delicious, yummy and a great place to meet a friend for a chat before going exploring the shops on Rundle Street. Go there!
Great little chocolate cafe, just behind rundle st, good range of cakes and deserts and yummy yummy hot chocolate!
My friend brought me here last night, and I now always meet her there! Lovely little dessert/coffee shop. Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere! Would definitely recommend it!
We took a whole school group here while on an excursion and they were really accommodating, and did a great job of keeping 30 young people happy and fed. Delicious food and drinks. Needs multiple visits to try a good sampling of everything on offer.
This is the perfect place for any chocolate lover! Share the chocolate filth plate with someone and overdose on chocolaty goodness! The prices are usually very reasonable and all products are made on site and fresh daily. The service can be a little slow sometimes but they are always busy so I can understand that. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable.
I love coming here. There's a great ambience, friendly staff, and usually a quiet corner. They have two floors.. and like the window tables. The chocolate drinks are lovely. I would come again and am glad to have been introduced to it by a WOMOW review.
Great little find, comfortable/relaxing environment with an array of exceptional hot chocolates, tea, coffee and sweet treats to pick from. The prices vary but is quality for money and just off of Rundle Street it is a little haven for any chocolate lover!
Delicious food for the sweet tooth and all at a great price too. Service can be average but they're ALWAYS busy - so it's understandable.
The Chocolate Bean on Union St Adelaide is a specialist chocolate shop with an array of different hot chocolates. Their menu is online. There is also an array of wonderful looking desserts and fairly plain savoury dishes which will not steal the limelight from the chocolate. The shop allows dining on two floors. The ground floor is a little ramshackle but the first floor is neat and cosy.
The hot chocolates come in 3 sizes for $3.50, $4.50 and $5.50. I had a medium sized hot chocolate with orange and that was served in a generous mug. It came with a bubbly froth with a dollop of cream in the middle and chocolate sprinkling on top. It was milky and not particular rich but I was glad of this given the large mug. The orange flavour was a delight although it got a bit sweet toward the bottom of the mug.
There were no marshmallows or chocolates served with the drink. The Mug came with a square saucer which was a stylish addition.
This was a pleasurable visit and I will return to try some other flavours.
Chocolate Bean is where i go to escape the rat race. It is a quaint little cafe reasonably quite during the week. It has a feel of Paris or Melbourne side street cafe which is a change to the franchised/lifeless cafe's around town.
This used to be one of my favorite places to go and it's still pretty nice and quaint but it isn't as nice as it used to be before they revamped the decor. The desserts are still good value and the coffee is really nice too and not too pricey.
I dunno...i think the new seating is better cos they can fit more people in. It is so popular you are more likely to find a seat now than if they had the little stools. I agree with the rest of your statement...it's a great place and the chocolate is amazing :)
