Great bakery, definitely a must see! Food is sooo good and presentation is great too!! Highly recommend a visit :)
Cosy old world feeling French style bakery in the heart of Hobart, walking distance to the wharf. Pretty in appearance & delicious in taste. Variety of lovely looking cakes, the Banoffi caught my eye & was pleasantly a perfect choice!
YUM is the first word that comes to mind. food is vibrant and full of amazing flavors. i was slightly overwhelmed by portion sizing but im used to sharing with at least one toddler any way so it worked out okay for us.
I've read so many great reviews about this place on WOMOW so I had to try it for myself. I agree - this place is amazing!
The size of the pastries and sweets are enough for a family to share!
There's a good range of savoury items for lunch, although i did find there was usually one ingredient in most of the savoury items that I didn't want to eat (I'm picky). Nothing was simple and plain about the savoury items - which is great for the majority of people.
On the down side is the service. The wait staff are incredibly slow if you want service after you are seated at your table. In short, either don't bother asking, or ask 3 times.
The other down side is it's quite busy and can be quite loud, so it's not the best place to go if you want a lot of conversation.
I will definitely be visiting again. Thanks everyone who recommended this cafe!
Approximate cost: $12
The food is absolutely delicious! But why is everything so huge? I have gone in wanting something to grab and go for a bite at lunch, but they are all meal-sized, and I often don't have time to eat it. More of a place I recommend sitting with a friend and enjoying. Coffee is also reasonable.
You have to see it to believe the range.
The best bakery I have ever been to.
One of the 1st places I go to everytime I visit Hobart.
Nearly impossible to get into during the summer months.
An absolute must when in Hobart.
What a gorgeously run shop. No wonder it is so highly coveted!
Coming down the street, you can see the huge shop front and then the 'deck' with seats outside. There was even a 'band' playing on this deck to fit in with the atmosphere of the bakery.
In side is was like a major city with people everywhere and queues the length of the shop. And little wonder why. I had to get my notepad (electronic) out to jot the names down of all the pastries and goodies we wanted to try when we eventually got to the counter!
Definitely worth the visit and this will be one of the first locations I will want to visit next I'm in Hobart.
Approximate cost: $ord
I love it here, it's so nice!
sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing your view.
This place is quite noisy but still has a nice atmosphere. I tried a tuna baguette which was quite delicious!
The let down was the coffee. No crema at all on my long black!
I really wish cafés would stop using Grinders coffee, it's horrible. ....
Approximate cost: $15
I've stopped here for a morning tea and a lunch. The food is excellent and there's a wide variety of choices. The place is quite busy but we had no trouble finding a table each time, but it does make the service a little slow. Good prices for a large and filling lunch in a lovely location.
Approximate cost: $10
Fantastic artisan bread. On the pricey side, but you are paying for delicious quality bread. Love their light rye sourdough in particular.
They also make good coffee.
At lunchtime they are very busy, and as they don't take reservations for tables there is often a queue of people waiting for a table.
There's a 25% off voucher in the Entertainment book which does make this cafe a bit more affordable :)
