I was surprised by how small this cinema is, but that just means less people to annoy you while you enjoy the movie in their large comfy chairs. A little bit more expensive than the commercial cinemas, but here you are supporting more independent films and get the privacy of a smaller audience.

Approximate cost: $17.50 per adult

Nice place to see a quiet movie. Some nights of the week you might even get the cinema to yourself. A bit overpriced but if you intend to go more than once I recommend joining their club you'll end up saving in the long run

Approximate cost: $18

These are really nice cinemas and they're not usually over-run with teenagers because they're not in a Westfield complex. The only drawback can sometimes be parking if your visit coincides with the arrival or departure of a cruise ship.

Saw The Perks of Being a Wallflower here; lovely movie made better by the Dendy experience. I thoroughly enjoyed feeling like the grown-up I am, being 'allowed' to take a glass of wine into the cinema.

The best thing about Dendy is if you're a member, you get significantly reduced ticket prices and sometimes they even have $6 movie screenings.

With a Max Brenner store just a few steps from the cinema, it's hard to beat this place for an afternoon or evening's entertainment.

Approximate cost: $11

Fantastic location tho can be crazy with cruises ships docking there also at times.

Parking is free tho limited so be there early and expect a little wait sometimes.

Amazing Movenpick icecreams available outside the cinema and also few options with your movie.

We love the seating and sit where you prefer, lovely cinema, lovely location, fantastic eateries directly outside and $10 per adult per movie or $7.50 with Dendy Club card - love it!!

People on the Penisula may not realise how accessible and good value the Dendy Portside (and the adjacent restaurants) are.

First, access. Go down Gateway, exit at Nundah Rd exit, regardless of what your GPS says, head straight down Nundah Rd, far more relaxing than the Gateway, and it brings you out directly opposite Portside where the Dendy is.

We park on street usually across road rather than drive around in circles in fairly small car park.

All told, only around 30 min trip (from Scarborough.)

Next, join Club Dendy and get adult tickets for any session or day for $10 (less for seniors). And convenient on-line ticket booking.

And of course the Dendy shows generally more interesting movies than the usual rubbish elsewhere. Nice small theatres. Licensed but restricted choice and expensive for what you get. We avoid after 1st try.

Finally after (or before if you must) movie, a nice meal at one of 1/2 dozen restaurants immediately adjacent, or drive upo to near-by Racecourse Rd.

And then a relaxed 30 drive home.

PS i will give away my secret, but don't tell. We find the best experience is go to a less busy (until now) 4-5pm session, come out at 6:30 or 7:00, just in time for a relaxed dinner.

Best cinema around. Good prices, much cheaper than event, especially if you want to visit before 5pm. Worth getting a membership as you get a big discount.
Lovely atmosphere, great sets. Love that you can drink alcohol during movie.

I attended a reel mums session recently for only $10! This included a coffee and biscuits. The cinema is comfortable and the surrounds quality. Definitely value for money.

Approximate cost: $10

I go every week for my weekly time out to enjoy an escape from the real world and a few chocolaty treats. I can often sit on the deck and enjoy the sunshine between movies and it is an easy walk home.

Approximate cost: $15

I have just discovered Dendy - there are only a few in Australia, but their prices are half that of the big chain cinemas. They play arthouse movies as well as the blockbusters, & best of all, they serve alcohol & old style popcorn. Dendy makes cinema an experience - we recommend it!

Approximate cost: $7.50
