I have always happily used dog over board at Adamstown for all my pets .
Recently our new little puppy came to live with us. His sharp nails were dealt with by Tyla @ DOB when he was 12 weeks old. We could see him being attended to behind the glass and he was a little angel being doted in by angel Tyla . She is so caring.
At 16 weeks his nails needed doing again but I took him to the local vet where he had been attending puppy pre school. I can only say he/we had the most traumatic experience. I was so concerned when he came out of the closed room and wondered what trauma he had experienced. The noise was horrendous. I was told he may need behaviour modification classes and to consider anxiety medication and that they could not get the muzzle on him
I went straight round to DOB and Tyla was thankfully working and I asked her opinion on how to recify the uncut nails and overcome the horror experience. On examination his back claws were inferior in the cut and indeed had blood on one claw.
Tyla and her colleague were able to fuss and reassure him and sing to him whilst they effortlessly cut his nails and not a whimper from him.
Thank you Tyla for your professional kindness and to all the team at DOB for yet another job well done . I cannot praise you highly enough. Xo

Took our new puppy there on Sat. Asked for her to not be cut too short. She has been shaven between her eyes and looks dreadful, so much so the kids cried when we picked her up. I asked for a small trim of her fur and she has lost most of her puppy coat.
It was $100 and very poor service, We wont be going back. Gosh I hope her hair grows back nicely , shes gone from 4 months to 4 years in her face. Very very unhappy customer and its over priced.

Today we called dogoverboard to ask for prices and appointments for our German Shepherd. The staff were friendly and very helpful and they arranged an appointment for 12 o'clock the same day. Within an hour we were able to collect our dog all washed, dried, toe nails perfectly trimmed and ears cleaned. Well done, brilliant service. The staff were professional and listened to our concerns with her timidness and being around other dogs. The staff re-assured us and made our dog and us feel very comfortable.

I delivered my 16 week old wire fox terrier to DogOverboad for grooming (second visit). 3 hours later she was not ready and I was told she would be about another half hour. No indication that there was a problem. I came back half an hour later and no sign of her. After about ten minutes the manager brought Roxie out and informed me rather abruptly that I would need to do lots of work with her before they would take her back. I was quite taken aback and asked what the problem was. She told me that Roxie had been difficult through the whole process and that she had bitten one of the groomers. I tried to explain that I combed, brushed and stripped Roxie's hair every two days, on a bench, to get her used to the process. I had bathed her twice over the two months we have had her. She was certainly not overjoyed with the process but had never shown the aggressive behaviour described to me. I even ran my own beard trimmer around her to get her used to the noise. I was told that I obviously had not groomed her properly because there was matting ( I don't claim to be a professional) and by the way I was being charged an extra $30 ($100 in total) because Roxie was a problem dog. I followed up with a telephone call to express my concern that Roxie had not previously shown aggressive behaviour, if they were aware she was only a only 16 weeks old pup and to ask if there had been a particular event that had set Roxie off. I also said that on reflection I did not think it was appropriate that I was charged the additional $30. After a bit more discussion I was informed that Dogs Overboard has a policy that they do not groom biting dogs and that I would need to fine another groomer.
-OK so DogOverboard is a very busy and noisy place with hair dryers blasting and dogs barking as you enter and the separate grooming room is also a hive of activity. So maybe it was all a bit too much for Roxie. She certainly showed signs for the next couple of days of having been traumatised but is pretty much back to normal now (brushed and combed her today, including spending extra time on beard, ears and paws).
-I am not condoning biting dogs but DOB are professionals, that is why I took my puppy there (again second visit). Surely there are ways to train/deal with stressed/ anxious pups.
-If it was so obvious that she was reacting badly from the start, then wouldn't it have been better to telephone me to come and get her rather than pushing on and potentially causing more long term damage.
- I would not be taking Roxie back there regardless, but I am quite concerned that the DogOverboard experience will stick in her mind and making essential future grooming very problematic.

Approximate cost: $100

The people that own and run this business are pieces of sh*t. The bully their young employees and play mind games with them. Not surprised u had this experience with them

Had to cancel spot at puppy preschool, giving plenty of notice (2 weeks) but told I would not get my $75 deposit back. They even refused to let me use it as in store credit as I had planned on getting my dog groomed there. I was never told the deposit was non refundable when booking, only I had to pay a deposit to book. The woman I spoke to about a refund was extremely rude and abrupt. They have lost business with me, I would prefer to travel further away and use a business who is more respectful and fair with customers.

They do not deserve any business at all, totally agree with you

Dogs aren’t even given water the whole day!!
The grooming part may be ok but the doggy day care is so bad!
The dogs are kept in small pens with no beds or any other stimulation. There are far too many dogs for the small size of the area.
One day I was told my dog had been in a crate the whole day as it was barking! 8 hours in a crate!! My friend also told me the same happened to her older dog because it didn’t want to play.
My dog was always so desperate for a wee and water when we picked it up which just shows that not enough attention is given to them.
Would never return here or recommend the dog day care to anyone who loves their fur baby. Have found a much better place with loads of outdoor space and attention from the employees.

I sent my dog here for two days a week for just over a month and I was not impressed. He would come home so sad and not himself and I thought he might get use to it, I wish I stopped taking him there after the first day as it only got worse.
I found the dog daycare at Gateshead way better, they have yards for the dogs to play in and aren’t kept in an enclosed space like they are at dog over board. They are kept in a small pool area.
I thought they might take them outside and out and about. Nope. My dog was always busting to go to the bathroom as soon as I picked him up, he knows not to go inside he needs grass or somewhere outside to go. Shows they don’t leave the small area.

My dog would always come home with scratches and bruises and marks and last time BITE MARKS! They obviously aren’t watching the dogs as much as they should if they are allowing my dog to be attacked by others
As soon as I noticed the bite marks I started seeking other day cares immediately
We spent time with him in the pool that is there and he came home with rashes and redness all over… Not sure how clean the pool is..
Some of the girls are quite rough with my dog also and would get angry if he was too excited when I picked him up... OF COURSE He is going to be excited to see me! Especially when you clearly don’t treat the dogs right or give them enough attention by keeping them enclosed in the small pool area ALL day?!
Don’t worry I will take my dog and money else where
I have told my friends, family and anyone I know with a dog to avoid this place
Would not recommend to anyone that values the health and well-being of their dogs

Your review was made a couple of hours after your dog was banned from attending day care. The comments are totally untrue, malicious and vindictive and are the direct result of us banning your dog.
We very rarely have to ban dogs as we work with dogs to settle and enjoy their day and try to correct any antisocial problems. Even though we spent a considerable amount of time with Maverick at no cost to you, we had to, in the end, ban him due to continual barking and very robust behaviour with other dogs. He is inclined to play very roughly with other dogs and is incredibility noisy. We have given you feedback that he is a very noisy and a robust dog that requires one on one training.
We had received no complaints or concerns from you about day care or treatment of your dog. Exactly the opposite, we have received regular feedback how much Maverick loves it and how excited he is coming. When we informed Luke that unfortunately we have assessed Maverick as unsuitable for day care due to his continual loud barking, he agreed that he is getting very vocal and worse at home too.
Between day care days you have even brought your dog into Dogoverboard for swimming exercise. So you were comfortable with our facilities and the very large indoor pool area.
We have very strict protocols and schedules for safely taking dogs outside for breaks and toileting. The schedules are documented for every day care dog. Maverick was taken outside for walks on the grass 4 times a day on a double leash. He was not in the large pool area all day; he was also in other day care areas. Your dog has never been injured or poorly treated by our staff. There were no bite marks on your dog when picked up. These comments are slanderous.
All areas at Dogoverboard are covered by video surveillance, and there is no evidence that Maverick was treated poorly or suffered any form of injury. We do have a number of videos showing Maverick enjoying and interacting with other dogs in the large pool area.
All dogs are happy to see their owner when being picked up. Maverick was always extremely excited and our staff used natural corrections on leash to prevent injury and excessive pulling.
It is disappointing that you took this approach to criticise not based on truth and actual facts.

I believe every word you say Montanna-C, the people that own Dogoverboard are excellent at manipulation, bullying and lying. Everyone should stay away

My 2.5 year old Cavoodle, Basil chose DogOverboard for Doggie Daycare! He tried several others but DogOverboard was his preference. He loves the fact that the dogs are thoughtfully placed in small groups according to who plays best together. Basil also loves the amount of staff on hand for walkies, supervision, pats, play and cuddles. He can have a supervised dip in the pool, a weigh-in or receive some of the many grooming services available in the especially equipped doggie salon! Before DogOverboard he was very scared of being groomed but Trudee fixed all that! Upon collection each day I receive an update about his day and can even buy toys, treats and pet care products before we leave! The front of house girls are a real asset to DogOverboard as they are friendly and very welcoming to their two and four legged visitors! They make an effort to get to really know your dog and his or her needs. They create a friendly environment, which I feel is key to great business!
