Excellent Chinese Restaurant. Prices are slightly higher than standards, however the quality (and quantity) of the food is in line with the prices.

Big serves so great for a large group! All of the standard dishes are cooked well and the seafood is great. A bit more expensive than some other places but it's a destination in itself and always fun to check everything out on a Saturday night - expect to wait for a table though!

I have to say that the food here is nice and the selection is good too but the price is a bit expensive considering Haymarket has quite a few similar places to dine.
The service is good and the place seemed to be busy which reflects peoples opinion of it but i do feel i could dine elsewhere locally and for just as good quality but less expensive.

Have been here a few times over recent months, excellent food, service is OK (equals many restaurants in the area) and BYO which is great for large groups/parties.

If I go back five years Golden Century was probably my favourite Chinese Restaurant in Sydney. However recently is has seemed to go downhill. The food quality has dropped and service is not of a great standard.

The cleanliness of the restaurant isnt great and for the prices you pay you find yourself feeling a little hard done by at the end of your meal.

The food quality is ok but i think the restaurants general lack of service lets the whole meal down.

A good indicator of the quality of food is the number of locals eating here, it's packed and busy. Looks can be deceiving - my entree Crab and Corn soup looked very unappetizing, but it was thick, juicy, hot and delicious. My main Steamed Squid with Garlic was lovely - a beautiful delicate flavour, even its aroma when it arrived made me want it. On delivery, my Vegetables with Bamboo Funghi looked totally dreadful, just a steaming brown mass on the plate - but, oh Mamma ... it was super fantastic. Very nicely cooked, generous with the Funghi and several other types of mushrooms too. Over and above the actual food, the other little touches make eating here really nice - the complimentary tea that arrives as soon as you order, the hot towel to refresh your face and hands before eating, the fresh fruit to conclude the meal - and the fragrant refresher towel to finish off. It's all great. I'll be back here.

We went there for friend's birthday dinner. The price was at the high end of the range but the quality of the food was nice so that would probably justify the amount they charge. The seafood was fresh and well presented. The staff were friendly and happy and patient to introduce their special dishes for the day. Good for a special occasion but probably a bit pricey for everyday dinning. Recommend.

This is one of the most famous Chinese restaurant in sydney. I heard a lot of good thing about it before I came to sydney, the fresh seafood cook in very traditional Chinese way. Yummy, but tooooooooo pricy for student like me.
On the other hand, the stir fried dishes are all reasonable priced and very delicious as well, so will recommend your guys try the non- fresh seafood dishes.

I've had dinner at this restaurant a few times when I visit family in Sydney and omg there seafood is just fantastic, I always order the lobster platter and it's cooked delicious, the waiter lets you choose which lobster you want as well, full of flavour and loved it, the prices are quite expensive but if you love seafood it's so worth the price, all waiters were very friendly and fantastic location,

I had my dinner with my friends here a few times and have enjoyed the experience every time.
Seafood is fresh and delicious. Service always great, and cooked and served in record time.
Very clean place, very friendly staff. Happily recommended.
Lobster in XO sauce was my favourite dish of the night a must try for any seafood lover. Can be expensive depending on size of lobster, but waiter will bring in to you fresh from the tank for approval before cooking and serving.

The best Chinese seafood in town. They do best with seafood, crabs, lobster, steamed fish, prawns or oyster dishes are to die for. They also have other delicious dishes, but what they are famous for is seafood. Although it is pricy, you get what you pay for.

Just thinking about writing this review made my mouth water because the food was just that good! We enjoyed a family meal here and everyone was highly satisfied with the food. We went one busy Saturday night, so the service was a bit slow- but the food made up for it. We ordered San Chow Bow to begin with followed by some mixed vegetables, chicken dishes, tantalising prawns and fried rice. Their round tables make it really easy to share food- the non messy way! Not too sure how I feel about the live seafood staring at you in their tanks before they are made into your dinner though!

I love their peking duck so much I want to just write 'Peking duck, peking duck, peking duck' and end the review, but I'll get serious.

One of the best Chinese restaurants, at times gets a bit too loud for my liking, but I can live with that. they do variety of food, most of them taste great. You get to 'choose what you want to eat'

no no not just on the menu, you get to get up, go to the water tank, pick and point 'that one' it will be on your plate in a while. you do have to wait a little for that, but seriously it's a 'must' experience. I'd stay of dim sims, you didn't come here to have dim sims. come on!

Looking for fresh seafood but don't want to go out and catch it yourself? Make life easy by heading down to the city and booking a table at Golden Century.

If this restaurant doesn't have the seafood you are looking for then it probably has not been caught yet! They have over 20 tanks of live seafood ranging from oysters, scallops and pipis to fish to crabs to lobster. Just walk up to the tank with the waiter and select the one you want. Within 20 to 30 minutes or less it will be on your table made just the way you want (Chinese style options - such as with ginger and spring onion for crab or lobster, gently steamed with soy sauce and spring onion for fish or black bean for the huge New Zealand oysters that fill a plate!

Even if you are not a fan of seafood, there are many other options of Chicken, Duck, Beef and vegetables, all cooked with the same level of skill to enhance and bring the best flavors out of each ingredient. A favorite of ours is the Crispy skin chicken for non seafood lovers.

The question of quality and value are well answered by how busy this restaurant gets on most nights. It is highly recommended you book ahead to ensure a seat. Understand that many very popular seafood items will run market price which is not determined by the restaurant but by the markets that sell them. If you are after quality, this is the place to go. Put it on your top 10 list of restaurants to try in Sydney!

We had a very late lunch here (about 4pm Sydney time) because we were still on Perth time. We were the only ones there. There were a lot of staff members milling about with nothing to do - in the restaurant and on the steps leading to it. I am heavily pregnant and despite all the staff being around, no one offered to help my husband get the stroller up the steps, leaving the job to me! Service was pretty abrupt too, which you wouldn't expect when the restaurant is dead quiet! Ok, service aside, the food is good quality. The salted chicken may have been a little underdone but it did result in some parts of the bird being super tender and moist. The tofu dish was lovely too, as was the fried rice. The bill was hefty compared to Perth prices, but if they charge for the usual freebies like tea, this probably reflects their higher pricing across the board (I didn't notice the charge for tea at the time but see another WOMOW reviewer has made the comment).

What can I say? It's not the best Chinese restaurant in the city, but if you want to eat prawns, lobster and abalone at 3 in the morning, this is the place you go.

As a HongKong style restaurent, seafood is their special. They provide great services, nice seafood and good environment as well. I like their lobster. BTW, their yamcha at lunch time is nice as well.
