I came in here for some drinks with a friend. They do great coffee and my son had a freshly made fruit drink which was refreshing (I had a few sips!). A great place to relax, they have nice big chairs and a fantastic courtyard. The staff are lovely too.

This place is great. The service is good and the food is quite good as well. The prices are cheap for what you get. There is a range of items on the menu to suit most tastes. The only problem I had was that I ordered a steak and it tasted as though it had been cooked from frozen as it had a strange taste. Everyone else's meal was good though.

Food is great (dinner more so than breakfast), the soup appetisers are a great touch and always taste yummy. The place is even better (the courtyard is superb), 9 times out of 10 the service is excellent (although we are "regulars" now and the staff know that so I think a little extra effort is always put in on their part!). The waitress is always pretty quick and efficient, not the most chatty I must admit but she's on the ball and knows exactly what she's doing. And the value is unbeatable. We never spend more that $50-60 for both of us and we're always completely full.

We decided on Grub & Tucker for brunch - their menu looked interesting. My friend had the smoked mackerel, which he said was excellent. Since I was craving meat, I ordered the lamb burger. My lamb came out well-done even though I'd asked for medium-rare...but this was forgotten as soon as I tasted the relish/chutney on the burger. Absolutely droolworthy, it was the highlight of the dish. The food was great overall and service was friendly.

In Newtown, wanted something to eat, Grub & Tucker looked interesting. Great food great value and an unusual decor for a restaurant. Listed as modern Australian, but really more of an Italian restaurant.

Approximate cost: $15
