Went there for lunch on a weekday, so they were not really busy, but, their service was excellent, very attentive, food arrived promptly and really well cooked etc. Fairly limited menu, though lots of vegetarian options, generous serves. Only issue is decor could be spruced up a bit..though maybe slightly grunge is the look they are aiming for

I must admit I liked this place a little more when it was Circle 8 but Newtown just wasnt ready for Posh. It is nice now but it isnt the same. The service is good the food is nice, theres always a juggle to get a table and sit in the right place.
I do like the newish name it reminds me of the cool names like Slug and lettuce in london. Though this is more Australian. So I am a little biased as my thoughts are with how it was to how it is now, but Now it is a nice place to go, has a good modern menu, and good service.
Is it my first choice in Newtown, proably not, is it a place that I would recommend over others, Yes.

Its a bit of a hit and miss with this place. Sometimes we've gone here and the food and service was absolutely awesome and other times we waited forever to get our order made and food to arrived! The dessert range is really good and we're always happy with the taste and presentation. One of those places you need to ease your way to making it a regular.

I have been a regular at this cafe for some nine years under it's previous guise of Circul8 and now Grub & Tucker - I was always attracted to it's ramshakle courtyard and relaxed atmospher - having dined there regularly for breakfast and dinner found that sticking to the same selections I am never disappointed and the staff are very OK with your excluding ingredients which might cause you problems. Overall, after many years dining there I have found the food to be more than satifying and the staff there over the years very friendly - a special note of the Floor Manager and Ben, when they are working make the experience enjoyable and pleasant...smiles all round. Can't quite get around to giving Ben my number though :)

Was very disappointed by this cafe/restaurant. The service was very slow- it took ages to take our order, once our order was taken it took another 25 minutes to bring our drinks and the meals were further behind. We seemed to be unable to get the attention of a waiter/waitress despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't even half full.

The menu looked great- but unfortunately our meals were very disappointing. The salad with my meal was past it's useable date (some leaves on my plate were brown & slimy) and my meal had hazlenuts scattered on it- but some still had parts of their shells on. The mashed potato with my meal was cold.
My partner's meal was also disappointing with very overcooked rubbery fish with cold steamed vegetables on the side.
There are so many brilliant eateries/cafes on King Street, that I won't bother trying grub & tucker again to see if there has been an improvement.

Surprised to hear a few bad reviews. We ate here 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The exterior is not much to look at and I found our waiter a bit up himself so it kind of balanced out in the end. I reckon we would go back, they food as great!

I wasn't expecting much from this place as I've read reviews about this place. I hang around Greeks a lot, they love their salads and so do I. I didn't like the Greek salad here, some ingredients were fresh, some I felt weren't as fresh. That's a big no no.

I thought about complaining, couldn't grab anyone's attention in a timely manner, left the food nearly untouched paid for the meal, made a note about it on my iphone, and here I am now writing about it.

The first two times we ate here, we were happy with the meals. However, our recent meal was a disappointment. The service was slow & when I looked for someone, I was told they would attend to me. Then I heard mumbling behind my back. The waitress was rude & our food was oily. Standards have slipped.

The place seemed a bit seedy to me, it was a hot day and it was sweltering inside, so we walked out the back part to sit down, and it stunk of sweat on the cushioned chairs, it was boiling because of the plastic roof, so we ate back inside. The food was good, i got a chicken burger. But the service wasnt great, and they had run our of tomato and wouldnt let us add avocado to a ceaser salad! overall not the greatest experience.

our greek salad had overdate feta cheese and our other breakfast meal had a hair hanging off the mushroom. no apology, replacement or refund was given.
