Yummy, it's all yummy! But the problem is.... I walk in to get a particular item and walk out with several more! My nieces love the gingerbread frau and I love all their savoury goodies (and the tiny little treats!).

My go-to whenever I have guests or just need a pick me up.

I've often walked past Hausfrau when they were closed but today got the chance to go in and what a delight! Reasonably priced, and what a selection of baked goods! The apple strudel was fresh, hot and delicious and served with fresh cream and the coffee was very nice. A nice casual dining cafe with friendly staff, cute decor and too many tasty treats to choose from. They even had decorated cookies, just in time for Easter.

Approximate cost: $5+

The best hot chocolate in Melbourne. But not cheap. They have great sausage rolls and vanilla slices and cakes and icecream. I could go on and on. Just don't forget your wallet!

I found the bread I purchased to be nice but expensive and due to the rude service I got, I doubt I would go out of my way to return again.. The lady made such a fuss over having to get more bags for the bread which had run out..

Love going to this place for fancy breads or a bit of sweet treat - the cakes and slices are amazing! Try the vanilla slice...or for savoury you can't go past a loaf of the olive bread or roasted garlic bread.

Approximate cost: $10

This is a bakery/cafe that could convert the most austere dieters. If I haven't been to hausfrau at least once a weekend, withdrawal symptoms take over. For a busy shop it always feels relaxed. Takeway or eat-in. You will find people reading their newspapers (or the mags on offer), families feeding their children, friends catching up. There is plenty to chose from (cakes, slices, biscuits, pies, tarts, sausage rolls), served with great coffee in a space that could be described as 'sweet' and 'simple'. I also love the hausfrau-branded gifts to buy - t-shirts, aprons, packaged biscuits...cookie cutters, birthday candles, ice cream greet you at the entrance.

Best coffee in Melbourne! Delicious! Bueno! Bellisimo! And a cute little street to boot – cakes looked delicious too although I didn't try them..
