I've had the full range of amazing to terrible experiences at Heading Out before, and decided to hedge my bets again. I'd had an ok experience at this particular salon a few years before.
This time I called in early in the day and was able to get an appointment that evening which was great. I didn't want anything fancy, just a trim and tidy up, as it had been ages between visits.

The girl who did my hair was nice and friendly without being overbearing and too "chatty" (which I find so draining!) so the whole experience was pleasant. She did a nice job on my hair and I have no complaints.

From memory the haircut was $65 and I also had a treatment for about $45. I won't get a treatment again, I don't even know when they did it (as they were washing my hair?) or what it was really, so it felt like a bit of a gimmick. There's no noticeable difference to my hair at all from it, so next time I'll just get a cut.

Overall, it was fine - nothing out of this world, but I'm not that fussy about my hair, I just hate bad service. So on that basis, I would go back to this salon.

Approximate cost: $115

I came here after Heading Out GPO was shut down in mid-2013. I walked in and stood at the front desk for three minutes as two staff members continued to talk in front of me about an episode of the Bachelor. After waiting another 25 minutes (during my lunch break which eventually made me later) I had a great experience with Kieran who was very friendly and did a wonderful job looking after my very thick and stubborn hair. Unfortunately Kieran's skilfulness was not enough to bring me back to this place.

Treated very rudely here today. I couldn't believe what happened. I went for a colour only, no blow dry but a dry off. After the colour one girl blew a dryer over my hair leaving it wet and a right mess, she said thanks and went and got the colourist. When the colourist got there I asked her to dry my hair as I was going into town, it seemed to be a major problem but she did it, except it was so messy it was horrible. I tried to fix it but needed a brush, she stood there looking at me like I was mad. I just kept asking for her to brush it but she just said "it's a dry off". So I asked for the brush but she snatched it away, refusing to let me brush my own hair!!! Again repeating that it was only a dry off. Truly I haven't been treated this rudely for a long time AND I PAID $ 95! I'll never go back. These girls are bored and don't care, I left so upset.

I called in of the street, they where very helpful and pleasant. I have curly hair and had nerve wracking experiences in the past but these fantastic people put me at ease and did a great job with my hair, straightening for me as well. cost $97 worth every penny because a bad cheap haircut is a disaster! They didin't push products on me Think I will travel back later in the year. Thanks

Lee is absolutely fabulous. Gives a great cut - i've got wavy/curly hair, and it was a nightmare trying to find someone who can cut it in the "right" way before this. He's not pushy with products either. Service is really good... Some days, they'll throw in other treats (back massage, hand massage etc) as well.

Approximate cost: $100
