I used to go to Hikaru more often than now, as I suspect the change of the chef since the taste wasn't up to the usual standard(not enough source for the noodle):(. I like the chicken katsu don and Chicken Yakisoba. The portion is big and very often quite crowded during lunch hours. This japanese restaurant is a lot better than the one next to thai la-ong (the green).

Approximate cost: $8.8

This japanese is good. Its cheap and fresh and relaxed. The service is good. Ive been here about half a dozen times and its really reliable which is nice. Even the takeaway is good, but you have to to pick up and order. There are different lunch and dinner menus and some good lunch specials. i like the sashimi and tempura.

Just around the corner from King St, this little hideaway restaurant always satisfies my cravings!
Great selection of dinner boxes at a bargain price ... plus the Rainbow roll is delicious.

Approximate cost: $15/box

I come here regularly for good quality Japanese food at excellent prices. the lunch deals are very good. Unfortunately the most recent time I visited with friends for dinner the quality of our meals wasn't up to the usual standard- but I'm hoping it was a 1-off- as the food is usually excellent!

Great food, and really cheap!! The staff are friendly. It's hidden a little bit but if you know where Missenden Road is it's just opposite that street. It's a nice change to the copious amounts of Thai restaurants on King Street.

Approximate cost: $10

I love this place, it's slightly hidden just off King st, so you don't have people staring at you eating when they walk past. The entrees are amazing. Especially the croquets. So fresh and good portions to share. The garlic beef was really good as well. I wasn't too fond of the chicken though, they didn't use chicken breast. The service was good, maybe because there was only a few people there at the time. It's also BYO as well which is good.

I love the location of this place, it is tucked away just behind King St, and it has lovely outdoor seating. The food is ok and you can eat quite cheaply here, especially at lunch time. From memory, though, I had something from the lunch special menu for around $5 -6 which was advertised outside the store, and I could see why it was so cheap. The food was ok, but not that tasty, and it was accompanied by a pretty bland salad.

food is great, fabulous sashimi salad and yummy agedashi tofu. Friendly staff but food is sometimes a bit slow. It can be crowded so booking on weekend is essential if visiting in busy hours.

Approximate cost: $15-20
