The cakes here are so delicious, fresh and made with quality ingredients. We like the finished design for my 8years old niece. Thank you so much worth the wait.

My future daughter in law was having a high tea so there was no better place to order the most delightful little tarts and vanilla slice from . The service impeccable , the food exceptional and delightful. Hilltop have been part of the community for years couldn’t imagine the strip without them .

I had the most horrible chocolate cake from Hilltop. The cake was dry and tasted stale and artificial to me and to my guests. I would never give them my business.

This is a quality Patisserie with real pastry chefs that know their stuff! The cakes here are delicious and always fresh. They make a good hot coffee as well.

Do yourself a favour and just go there. This super friendly, family run little cake shop/ bakery has the most amazing fare. You must have a piece of the Mille foi (aka Swiss Vanilla slice) my all time favorite (well for the last 20+ years ;-) and now it has a new rival with strawberries on top....... good grief!!! Choices Choices.
And don't go past the quiches and sausage rolls!!

My favourite things to buy are the chicken and leek pie and tray of 9 assorted sweets. I always buy more on top of course because everything is so yummy!

The chicken and leek pie I had today was perfect as usual. I really loved how it wasn’t salty like most pies are that’s why I love this bakery.
It would be good if the sausage roll I also bought today had less salt. Good flavour otherwise.

Bought a bday cheesecake a couple weeks ago and it was so yummy that I have been thinking about eating the cheesecake again! Am going back today to buy a slice. The price is so reasonable and service is fantastic. We are very fortunate to have such a fabulous shop in the neighborhood.

I needed a large 30th Birthday cake urgently for the Sat night! Rang a few places on the Thursday, decided on Hilltop cake Shop due to the warmth, understanding and friendly advice from Marcus and his beautiful Mum! I picked up the cake on Saturday morning and I was not disappointed, Mum is great!!
The atmosphere in the shop was inviting, friendly and familiar. The cake! OMGoodness, the cake was amazing!! So glad we decided on the larger size as guests went back for seconds!!! Thank you so much Hilltop cake Shop!! I will be back.

We visit this place a couple of times a week. My favourite is the eclairs, absolutely delicious. The biscuits are yumm, once you taste them you wouldnt ever want to buy supermarket ones. Everything is really good- baked cheese cake, soups in the winter, strawberry tarts. We order all family bday cakes here- The chocolate cake is not fancy looking but full points for taste. Everytime we cross this place (atleast twice a day!) my son (and me too) wants to stop for a treat! Lucky to have hilltop in the neighbourhood.

They've local legends. Friendly and reliable and whatever they make tastes great. Surrey Hills is very lucky.

I definitely agree with the other reviewers. It is a lovely family business, and this aspect really shines through from the service levels (warm, genuine and true) to the offerings on the order menu. They have a good range of sweet and savoury options. Whichever lifts your fancy, be it the asparagus quiche, mini pies, or strawberry tarts and eclairs, they are beautifully made and fresh. None of your factory standard, homogenously perfect creations here. It is original and slightly rustic, just like you would expect from an authentic pastry shop in europe. My favourite local.

This is a great family business with two generations of the family baking and serving. Its top quality Swiss baking at its best. Their continental cakes, pastries biscuits are just superb. The savoury side is just as good with excellent pies, quiches and sausage rolls. To top it off, their bake great rye bread and rolls, and on most days there are fresh rye bread sandwiches and homemade soup in winter. Prices are very reasonable and Helen always serves you with a lovely smile.

I have been using Hilltop Cakes for over 20 years for everything from lunch goodies to special occassion cakes. At all times I have found everything about this business to be nothing short of excellent, always fresh, high quality and exceptional value for money. Breads are lovely and only yesterday I had a yummy soup.

I regularly have their birthday cakes, little cakes and savouries for parties and often get asked where the food comes from. The biscuits and plain cakes are also great. The service and food at this family business really is consistently top notch. The best way I can think of describing the food is that it has a genuine wholesome homemade look and taste - but by a superb home chef !

Helen always greets you as if you are an old friend, and makes you feel right at home. Everything is consistently delicious,fresh,well made and very good value. The eclairs,strawberry cheesecake, sauceage rolls, quiches, fruit tarts are fantastic. The mini taster pack in particular with their mini fruit tarts and eclairs is sensational and a great way of sampling the products. A true delight.Well done.

Good swiss receipts and good takeaway pasties. Forget the decore; the food is worth the purchase adn right outside the tram. Take something delicious away for workplace coffee and agin, over the weekend. The shop has been there for decades and as a Balwyn longterm, its value is long standing.

Hilltop is one of the only swiss cake shops / bakers around. Their daily baking of superb food is beyond anything you would ever get at laurent or others. The chocolate eclairs with the lightest chou pastry fresh cream are exceptional. The quiches superb, the meat pies are like the great ones you had when you were a kid. For the quality of product they are cheap.
Its a swiss family owned business and it shows - well done hilltop. Best cakes in melbourne (believe me ive tried many 5 star places).
