I love Kofi Beans.
Breakfast on the weekend is a must....their omelettes are amazing!!
Great atmosphere, great food, great service and great gifts to look at too...and now they have a courtyard out the back as well as outdoor seating at the front. Superb.

Tucked away, in a line of shops on the main street of Croydon, you could be forgiven for walking past Kofi Beans without even noticing it. However, if you take a bit more care and notice the little tables and chairs out the front and the beautiful moroccan styled house decorations that frame the windows, then you may like to wander in...you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Kofi Beans has a fabulous, middle-eastern inspired menu: couscous, free-range meats, lots of vegetarian options and a delicious variety of gourmet choices. The coffee is always rich and delicious and the cakes and slices are a real treat. I love the little choccies too. The only let down is the Chai Latte, which is a bit weak and milky.

The staff are always pretty friendly and if you take your dog and sit outside, they'll be quick to give your four-legged friend a drink of water.

If you wander through the store, while it's jam packed to the roof, there are some fabulous middle-eastern pieces - beautiful plates, ottomans, candlesticks, lanterns and wall fixtures.

it's a great little place to have a light lunch, but also, now, dinner on a Friday night. Let's hope they extend it to Saturdays too!

Omg the best sandwiches I've ever had! Coffee is also great quality. If you are a chocolate lover you can treat yourself to some home made chocolate. Great place for lunch.

love the moroccan decor and that this place uses fair trade coffee and tea. You can purchase fair trade things as well as sample some lovely organic moroccan food.

Kofi Beans is a Moroccan oasis in dinky-di Croydon. The decor is fabulous-amazing North African accessories fill the cafe, and it has an exotic yet warm ambiance. The food is generally great. Fresh, good quality ingredients, skillfully seasoned and cooked, but serves can sometimes be quite small-for example the lunch time prawn dish on couscous is priced at nearly $20 and comes with only 3 (excellent quality) king prawns. The cafe is often very busy at lunch time, and the waiting staff are great-very efficient and friendly. It is obvious that this cafe has a real commitment to quality.

Lovely atmosphere, interesting decor, fantastic coffee. The food is good quality - all organic and home made- great range of home made chocs and cakes. The main meals are a bit on the pricey side, with all the high quality ingredients. Still, it's up with best coffee for many miles around and the service is great. You can play chess or draughts out on the street tables, with heaters, brollies. Wonderful atmosphere.

Lovely atmosphere and comfy chairs- lots of Indonesian style trappings and cosy decor. Fantastic coffee and cakes and you can buy coffee beans as well. Makes a change for downtown Croydon and more sophisticated than many around there. More the sort of place you would expect to find round Carlton.

Have really enjoyed going to Kofi Beans since they opened. Croydon is growing up!
I tell distant suburb friends, and have invited a couple to come along with me.
I hope the owner gets to read all these ratings, cause he needs someone else to do the coffee or smile more often. Good luck.

I visited Kofi for the first time yesterday, & was initally attracted with the sign out front promoting their Moroccan homewares, so went in to persue the Tajines. I was going to sit down & have a coffee, as I'd already had lunch elsewhere, but it was very crowded, & one of the waiting staff (male) was a little rude & seemed put out, & made me feel like I was in the way, so I left. But I'm keen to visit again, as the food looked really good. While I was waiting for some help with a tajine, I asked one of the patrons, who was eating what looked like a really hearty soup/stew, about her meal, & she said it was a little spicy for her but very tasty. I couldn't find a menu, so I'm not sure what's on it, but what I saw looked pretty good.

I agree. Have been going to Kofi since they opened.
Just recently (last 6 months) prices have gone up and the service down. It's a pity cause it's a very funky cafe for croydon, has brought a bit of ethnic flavour to the place.
That may be the problem, it is very popular and busy most of the time. Maybe they need more staff or even a bigger shop. I don't mind paying the increased prices but you want good service.

When they opened the staff smiled and were very relaxed, now they're too rushed.

PS I think the male waiter is the owner!

Love the environment. lounging in a couch very appealing.
Let down by abrupt rude service from the guy on the coffee machine who also takes the orders. Very rushed service. Cant get you served and the money out of your pocket quick enough.Shame coz it puts you off going to croydon's most unique cafe. looking elswhere these days.

Approximate cost: $12
