I really loved La Camera.
They are situated in Southgate, with riverside views over the Yarra facing Flinders St Station. Really gorgeous at nighttime particularly if you are seated outside on the covered balcony.
The menu is predominantly italian but contains a lot of choice beyond pasta, risotto and and pizza, to italian style tapas, a broad selection of antipasto & salad etc, and all very well priced and served in generous portions.

Girls' lunch in town was our mission and here is where we chose to do it.
We were shown to the balcony overlooking the river and it was very pleasant, except when the hot sun peeked through the gaps between the awnings. It was much quieter outside than inside so we were able to enjoy a great catch-up chat.
The waitresses were ever-present to fill our glasses with water and did so for several hours!
The vegan salad tempted us all but only one of us chose it from the extensive menu. It was generous in size and had lots of yummy stuff in it.
The others went for the more traditional pasta and risotto, which were delicious also, though not as generous in size as the salad.
There is a large cabinet containing many luscious-looking cakes, and we decided to choose 3 and share them all - the tiramisu, the panna cotta and the apple strudel. The panna cotta came with tart lemon sorbet and the apple strudel was accompanied by rum and sultana icecream. It was all yummy.
Next time We are going to try the deep-fried gnocchi. They were very attractively presented and drew our attention instantly as they passed our table but, alas, we had eaten too much already.
Mmm... Now where to meet next time? Maybe here again!

Nice restaurant, decent food and average prices. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony. However, was very disappointed with the service, especially when we asked for the bill. First of all the waitress took 10 minutes before giving us the bill for the table next to us. When that was finally sorted, we paid by credit card, and the waitress who took it did not return for at least 20 minutes, which is a bit too long for me to be comfortable with. We ended up having to go to the counter to sort things out where we were not even given an apology. I guess they must've been busy at the time, but this was still an upsetting end to an otherwise great experience.

Came here for a team lunch for work. Nice service with a friendly smile, good view from outside balcony, tasty food with a good range of lunch specials for either $12,$15,$17 or $20. My Cajun chicken foccacia was delicious. Would return here even if portions are not that large.

I came here on a weekend for breakfast. I was suprised to discover they did breakfast as i wouldn't expect it.
Upon entering we were seated by a lovely woman who took us through the menu, and served us quickly with drinks
We waited less than 15 minutes for our meals so we were pleased, as it was quite busy.
French toast with berries, was really thick bread and it was probably the best i've ever had, i think they also drizzled a little honey over it.
My partner had the usual eggs, toast, chorizo sausage etc and it was more than he could eat which is unuaual he's a bottomless pit!

Very happy, will return again

Consistently good food and very reasonable prices considering the location. The staff are friendly enough and the meal portions, whilst I wouldnt call them generous, are pretty good and you dont go hungry.

Fresh ingredients, taste delicious, good quality of food. I had pizza and the pasta .. It was authentic (Love Italian food)..

I had the best gnocci I've ever had at this restaurant. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to eat there again. Even the wine was superb.

Nice indoor and outdoor setting by the bank of the river.
Food is good at reasonable prices.
Avoid during lunch hours as it gets busy due to the businesses around.
Service was very good and at the same time quality and taste of the food was very good.

Good meal deals. Starting from $10 and you get a free wine. Great place to go for lunch with friends and colleague without spending a fortune.
