It was extremely busy when we came here on a Saturday night - Theatre, Soccer, Cricket, and Billy Connelly all on the one night and in the one area of Melbourne! Having said that though the staff were fantastic, very friendly and efficient. They checked with us to make sure our meals weren't delayed incase we were off to see a live performance which we were. The meals were huge and very tasty. Great views over the yarra river.

Good variety of offerings on the menu (italian).
The food is reasonably well cooked.
The layout of the restaurant means it can feel rather "busy" and "noisy" - not the best place for an intimate dining experience, if that is what you are looking for.
Otherwise, it is a good place for a relaxed, meal.
Beautiful river views.

The great thing about this place is that there are different deals to cater for every bodies budget. With lunches starting from $10 you cannot go wrong. The aranchini is to die for and is my favourite dish here.

Their pizzas are thin, crispy and lovely like true Italian pizzas and they're huge! I also love their spicy calamari and the La Camera risotto. It's very popular so booking first is recommended.

Their Lunch time special on Mon - Thurs is fantastic. We had a "fun" start when they seated half our party at a booth on one side of the restaurant and the rest of us who arrived later were seated at a table on the opposite of the restaurant.

Once we joined the booth, it took a long time for our order to be taken, but our food came out quickly, was really tasty and great value for money. I ordered a parmigiana which on the lunch special comes with a complimentary glass of wine or post-mix for $15 and I couldn't finish it.

food fantastic, staff professional friendly and great service provided at all times, highly recommend eating here to get a good taste for Italy as cuisine is very traditional, fresh and trendy at very reasonable prices.

This was my regular eating haunt during 2001 when I lived in Southbank, as I would dine here four nights a week alone and read my books. Taking friends (from the country) here after the 2009 AFL Grand Final, I was deeply disappointed. They ordered the Cappriciossa pizza, which probably had four slices of prosciutto on, and very sparingly scattered...which made them ask "is this the way Melbourne pizzas are made now?" I embarrassingly said "no". I ordered "Lamb ShankS" for $23, and got ONE skinny little shank that left me reaching for my friend's untouched pizza. Service was patchy apparently using multinational backpackers (who said Auf Wiedersen on our departure!! mmmm Ja?) Has definitely lost that 'cheap and cheerful' tag that I had so long had for La Camera Southgate.

A nice place in southgate, we asked for an outside table but were given inside even though we booked with plenty of notice. Food was very nice, although I thought the pasta serving was small compared to the pizza which was gigantic. Next time I would def go the pizza. Had a yummy new zealand sav blanc for $30

2 of us went there for lunch recently, and the balcony view is fantastic, enjoyed by some nice wines and reasonably good food but nothing special. Even so, we had an enjoyable time, quite busy and a bit noisy on the inside but that's fairly normal these days.

Groovy place for group get togethers

My wife and I went to La Camera with a few other friends and enjoyed the food. I had the Chicken Risotto with mushrooms, sundried tomatoes and spinach. I am a bit of a Risotto connoisseur and I was impressed. It was very flavoursome and not too gluggy.

I swapped half way with my wife and tried some of her marguarita Pizza, which looked huge but had extremely thin dough. In fact I've never had a Pizza with such a thin base and it was quite nice.

The restaurant was very busy so we had to sit on the enclosed balcony which was a bit cold in the middle of winter. Luckily they had some gas outdoor heaters.
